  3. Resolved Question: Lots of questions about running a daycare. Got answers?
  4. 22 May 2008 at 1:44am
I live in Sacramento and daycare is pretty expensive. In January we are buying a house and we will have a second child. Thye problem is we both work and daycare gets to be around $700 a month because there are just not too many daycares around. So we were thinking of starting one and possibly open a center as a business. Our big selling point would be that my wife who will initially watch the kids is a social worker. We will all be licensed as well. So here is what I am wondering about 1) Can you make good money doing this? 2) What additional insurance do you need and how much is it? 3) How much do you spend on supplies per child in a month? About moving to a center 1) If you were successful, why didn't you move it out of your home? 2) What are the typical fees for moving it out of home? 3) Was it worth it?

  5. Voting Question: 1040x Amended Return Income Tax Question? Do I send new Marr...
  6. 20 May 2008 at 7:56pm
I am in the process of re-filing a friend & her husbands income tax. The wife filed a separate return in February and did not take advantage of EIC or Additional Child Deduction. The husband has a business & rental propery and HAS NOT FILED yet but did file for extension of time to file. I have now completed the taxes for the husband and completed all the forms and 1040 for a combined return. With the EIC they will get a much better refund filing combined. I then went to the 1040x to "" undo"" the return the wife sent in earlier but am confused. Do I put the combined figures from the NEW combined return 1040 and taxes into the 2nd column of the 1040x and then do I send the NEW 1040 and all forms WITH the 1040x? It seems that I would have to send the new combined 1040 along with the 1040x since the 1040x is missing so many rows of detailed information.

We intend to sell to consumers via the web and also wholesale to health shops. The general markup to health shops will be our cut of 30% and their markup of 60%. I have been approached by another website operator. They have offered to list our product, but will only buy from us once they get an order via their website. They have also suggested we sell them our product at the wholesale rate ie. we make 30% they make 60% profit. Does this seem right? or should it be 50/50. I understand the 60% for retail stores as they have additional costs, but other websites have little costs.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080520/ap_on_go_co/congress_iraq_fundi ng Senate loads war funding bill with domestic programs By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 1 minute ago WASHINGTON - Despite numerous veto threats, senators in both parties have loaded up President Bush's war funding bill with a grab bag of domestic programs, including work permits for immigrant farm labor and heating subsidies for the poor. ADVERTISEMENT The Senate was scheduled to begin debate on the measure Tuesday, just days after a key panel added more about $28 billion to Bush's budget request for this year and next, with almost $50 billion more for a big expansion of veterans benefits under the GI Bill over 2010-2018. The new GI Bill and Democratic priorities like extending unemployment benefits are simply the big-ticket add-ons, both of which have drawn veto threats. There's also $50 million to track down child predators, $400 million to help rural schools and $350 million fight western wildfires, just for starters. Senators are acting as if the war funding bill coming to the floor Tuesday is the last train leaving the station, and, as a result, have added billions of dollars for pet programs and hitched on several policy "riders" as well. Few if any other spending bills are likely to come before the Senate this election year, which makes the supplemental measure an even more attractive vehicle for carrying spending proposals that would stall otherwise. The White House is fighting the add-ons much more vigorously than it did during last year's bruising war funding debate. Then, it accepted $17 billion in spending that Bush didn't ask for as the price for getting an Iraq war funding bill that didn't tie his hands on the war. Now that it's clear that Democrats won't insist on a troop withdrawal timeline, the White House is focusing on making sure the measure doesn't exceed his request. The Senate war funding bill combines $194.1 billion in spending over 2008-2009 for war funding, foreign aid, military base construction, heating subsidies and a variety of smaller items. Then there's $14.5 billion to give 13 weeks of unemployment checks to people whose benefits have run out and $51.6 billion over 10 years to improve GI Bill benefits. There's $108 billion remaining from Bush's war funding request for the 2008 budget year ending Sept. 30. But the White House appears willing to lump that request together with $70 billion to carry the war into next spring, as well as Bush's $5.8 billion request to construct levees in Louisiana. That puts Bush's request at $183.8 billion ? more than $10 billion below the Senate measure. The immigrant farm labor provision added to the measure at a hearing last week by Sens Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Larry Craig, R-Idaho, would allow almost 1.4 million immigrant farm workers to stay in the United States for up to five years to ease a shortage of farm workers that has left some crops rotting in the fields. Sens. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., and Judd Gregg, R-N.H., followed that up with a provision to extend an expired program to allow seasonal workers to return to the country using H-2B visas. Gregg, typically a fiscal conservative, voted with Democrats at last week's hearing to adopt $1 billion worth of additional energy subsidies for the poor. That provision led top Appropriations panel Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi ? himself the driving force behind $1 billion for coastal restoration in Mississippi ? to warn his colleagues that they were simply guaranteeing a Bush veto. Still, Republicans such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas ? a member of the Senate GOP leadership team ? pressed ahead with add-ons of their own. Hutchison won approval of $100 million in grants to local law enforcement to fight drug trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border. It's the type of situation White House budget director Jim Nussle had in mind last month when he chided senators for a "sky-is-the-limit mind-set" regarding "the desire of some in Congress to load up this troop funding bill with tens of billions in additional spending." Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri moved to keep open three "veterans business resource centers" with $600,000 in taxpayer funds. One of the centers, naturally, is in St. Louis; the others were in Flint, Mich., and Boston. Pacer, that's the absolute truth. Abe, We've been trying to get term limits for senators for years, but so far it just don't happen. Ladyshondra-Underhanded tactics does seem to be one of the things they do best. Shane--Very true. I don't know much about CAPS but Numbers Usa is one of the best (if not the best) group to belong to. They really have a lot of information posted.

  11. Resolved Question: Question about college electives/transfer admission?
  12. 20 May 2008 at 2:28am
Hope somebody can help with this; I am a student at a local community college. I'm halfway through my AA in Communications, after which I hope to gain entry into a good California school to complete my Bachelor's degree. Question: I have 4 electives to burn. I'm wondering where those would be best used? I've come up with 3 options: 1. Apply those 4 electives to a second major study (in my case, Journalism), leaving me only 3 classes short of a second Associate's degree, something I can do in a single semester. 2. Use those on a foreign language study, for which I'd be able to advance to the highest level of instruction offered at my school (e.g. German I, II, III, and IV). 3. Take 4 classes in various Gen Ed sections that I've already met requirements in, to better broaden my coverage for transfer requirements. This would allow for additional credits in science, math, business, whatever.. Which plan will help me the most with admissions to a better quality school?

  16. 19 May 2008 at 8:38pm
I am creating group violin classes for homeschool students, and hope to grow the endeavor into a small personal business. Basically, the classes will be for groups of up to 12 students in the 3rd-6th grade range, and will meet weekly for a full semester. Initially, classes will be designed for complete beginners; but should things go well, I will most likely offer additional courses. I am looking for a good name for the business. I came up with two: The Exploratory Violin Project, and The Violin Project. My husband thinks they sound too cerebral, but I'm still leaning towards The Violin Project. What do you think of these, and can you volunteer any additional suggestions? (I also asked this question in the homeschool education section.)

  20. 19 May 2008 at 2:58am
I am researching interactive computer programs for my brochure designing business. Yesterday, I opened up an account on www.tutor.com for my daughter. It was then that I noticed that the website has an interactive feature that allows the student to communicate with the tutor via instant message or telephone. In addition, my daughter was able to WRITE OUT or type her math problem with their interactive whiteboard. The session did not require me to download any additional software, nor did it require me to use a digital notepad/pen, unlike the other tutors that she has had before. Does anyone know where I can get such an interactive program? I would like to apply it to my design business. I have no idea what it is called.

I am 28 years old and am finally ready to go to college. My question is if I have a 3.8 or higher in County College for my AA then move on to a good university and continue that success, will I be able to still get into an IVY league school even with pathetic high school transcripts?? Also just as an additional heads up I am going to major in business and am interested in what may be the most rewarding financial course of study in this field. I am married and have one child and would love to secure our futures with a successful high paying career within the next 15 years.

  25. Resolved Question: What to do if Invisalign didn't work? Never had braces?
  26. 17 May 2008 at 10:43pm
I put them on at 24yrs old. I didn't have huge problems with my teeth, some overcrowding mainly. And now, at the end of my 3rd treatment, my teeth are not where they are supposed to. They are MUCH better, but I guess when you are unhappy about the way your teeth look for so long, you expect the perfection you were promised. My question is, what can I do now? It's ridiculous to think I have to now get braces, with the additional time and money that will take. I am upset because my dentist is not an ortho, so it's not like he can just put the braces on me at no cost to make up for the lack of results. But, also when I first came to him, maybe he could've told me I should also check into braces (which are in fact cheaper, and guaranteed to work). He didn't suggest this at all, which to me means he just wanted the business but wasn't truly concerned about what's best for me. Can I sue him? Can I really complaint? How can he make it up to me. Thank you...

  31. Resolved Question: Can a 14 year old get easily published? Example of my writ...
  32. 17 May 2008 at 9:48am
I really want to get published, and this is a dream I am working towards, not just a fantasy. I want to make this dream a reality. I've contacted 15 literary agents already, with one request for additional material. The others were rejections. This is an example of my writing style... this isn't my manuscript. Just an example I'm sure nobody would care enough to plagiarize. ;) This is a modern-day Cinderella story, told in the point-of-view of the stepsister, Anastasia. ?Anastasia Tremaine-Sinclair! Have you fallen asleep again?? Seven heads turn my way as Mrs. Cardenas screeches. Puddles of warm afternoon sunlight illuminate my desk at the back of the classroom. ?Mmph?not really.? I rub my eyes, and then realize too late that I have smudged my black mascara. Just when I get to the part when I win Homecoming Queen, Reed Corliss at my side, the Wicked Witch of the West Coast wakes me up. Ella Sinclair (aka ?Cinderella? to the seniors of Monroe Preparatory School), smirks at me. My stepsister knows what I was dreaming of. I roll my eyes. Who is she to judge? She?s a brownnosing, color-blind freak. How else could you explain the orange plaid suspenders and neon green polo shirt ensemble she was sporting? The rest of the class stares me down for a few more seconds, so I could properly feel like a dog scolded for doing its business on the carpet. How could they not be dreaming about prom night? Besides the fact I was surrounded by classmates who either had thick glasses, a bad case of acne, or both. Edited version: ?Anastasia Tremaine-Sinclair! Have you fallen asleep again?? A businessman was getting ready to go on a long business trip. He knew his wife was a flirtatious sort with an extremely healthy sex drive, so he thought he'd buy her a little something to keep her occupied while he was gone. He went to a store that sold sex toys and started to look around. He thought about a life-sized sex doll, but that was too close to another man for him. He was browsing through the dildo's, looking for something special to please his wife, and started talking to the old man behind the counter. He explained his situation. "Well, I don't really know of anything that will do the trick. We have vibrating dildos, special attachments, and so on, but I don't know of thing that will keep her occupied for weeks, except..." and he stopped. "Except what?" the man asked. "Nothing, nothing." "C'mon, tell me! I need something!" "Well, sir, I don't usually mention this, but there is The Voodoo penis." 6 hours ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 6 hours ago "So what's up with this Voodoo Penis?" he asked. The old man reached under thecounter, and pulled out a very old wooden box, carved with strange symbols and erotic images. He opened it, and there lay an ordinary-looking dildo. The businessman laughed, and said "Big damn deal. It looks like every other dildo in this shop!" The old man replied, "But you haven't seen what it'll do yet." He pointed to a door and said "Voodoo Penis, the door." The Voodoo Penis miraculously rose out of its box, darted over to the door, and started pounding the keyhole. The whole door shook wildly with the vibrations, so much so that a crack began to form down the middle. Before the door split, the old man said "Voodoo Penis, return to box!" The Voodoo Penis stopped, levitated back to the box and lay there quiescent once more. "I'll take it!" said the businessman. The old man resisted, saying it wasn't for sale, but finally surrendered to £738 in cash and a fake Rolex 6 hours ago The guy took it home to his wife, told her it was a special dildo and that to use it, all she had to do was say "Voodoo Penis, my crotch." He left for his trip satisfied that things would be fine while he was gone. After he'd been gone a few days, his wife was unbearably horny. She thought of several people who would willingly satisfy her, but then she remembered the Voodoo Penis. She undressed, opened the box and said, "Voodoo Penis, my crotch!" The Voodoo Penis shot to her crotch and started pumping. It was absolutely incredible, like nothing she'd ever experienced before. After three mind-shattering orgasms, she became very exhausted and decided she'd had enough. She tried to pull it out, but it was stuck in her, still thrusting. She tried and tried to get it out, but nothing worked. Her husband had forgotten to tell her how to shut it off. Worried, she decided to go to the hospital to see if they could help. 6 hours ago She put her clothes on, got in the car and started to drive, quivering with every thrust of the dildo. On the way, another incredible intense orgasm made her swerve all over the road. A police officer saw this and immediately pulled her over. He asked for her license, and then asked how much she'd had to drink. Gasping and twitching, she explained, "I haven't had anything to drink, officer. You see, I've got this Voodoo Penis thing stuck in my crotch and it won't stop screwing me!" The officer looked at her for a second, shook his head and in an arrogant voice replied, "Yeah, right... Voodoo Penis, my ass!" 6 hours ago last word should read A$$ 6 hours ago Hell we're being censored out of existence here A-S-S 19 hours ago

  35. Resolved Question: What are the Costco membership criteria?
  36. 17 May 2008 at 12:19am
I have looked on costco.com and don't see details on how two people share a membership. Can anyone clarify this? I'd also like details on weather it's better to get the business membership or the goldstar membership. I've heard several people talk about the membership they share with their relative or friend that live at a seperate address. In this type of situation, do you have to pay one membership fee or a primary membership fee and an additional fee to add someone on? If you own your own buisness and want employee's to have a card, do you have to pay for each extra card?

  39. Resolved Question: Business deal with family and need help on a verbal contract?
  40. 15 May 2008 at 6:50pm
Okay, here is the situation, I will condense it. My husband is the older of two brothers, he is a contractor and started his business over 14 years ago, his younger brother, also learned the trade and started his business about 3 years later. We have had our ups and downs over the years. My husband is usually really busy this time of year, his brother came to him wanting him to go into a large project (a huge hotel) 50/50, he said he would handle the financing as long as my husband manned it and travelled there about 200 miles roundtrip, twice a week to maintain production, we did all that, we got the workers and kept it going. The job bid for 170,000, labor would cost 45,000 and material 35,000. Now its down close to the end, all material and labor have been paid, and so have the workers, and his brother keeps making excuse after excuse not to give my husband any money on the project, now all the sudden, its turned into "he carried the headache" and he has "other expenses" etc. 17 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 16 minutes ago I am mad, my husband wasted time when he could have pursued other things, his brother is flanking on him! CAN we sue on a verbal agreement, we are in Texas and this is wrong we lost money in gas and time and 5,000 in new scaffolding we would not have otherwise purchased! HELP> no, but verbal contracts can be inforced in Texas, I know that much, the owners and the general contractor saw my husband on the job, and when his brother signed a lien release it was stating that ALL other subs, and materials have been paid so he basically lied! 45K for his labor and time and expertise.

  41. Resolved Question: I need idea's please...To help a child with a bright future.?
  42. 15 May 2008 at 2:34pm
I need idea's please...To help a child with a bright future.? I need idea's please...To help a child with a bright future.? My ex sister in law and I are still great friends. Her daughter who is now 16 still calls me Aunt Misty and I still look at her as my niece. Just a low down on this. This 16 yr old is a very responsible young lady. She has a wonderful opportunity to go to Europe next year, however the cost is $7000.00. We all live in the same small town of only about 1000 people so not a lot of potential for hometown donations, especially with 7 other kids from the school qualified to go. We need some idea's on how we can help her raise money. Here are few things we have thought of... 1. We already have a garage sale scheduled 2. This young lady makes key chains. Thought of selling them in bulk on ebay and stating how this is to help a child go to Europe. 3. Thought of selling the key chains locally. 4. There has already been to many car washes so we don't think this would profit well but we may try it. 5. We want to see if any business or company's will donate or sponsor her but don't want to 1 minute ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 1 second ago sound greedy. Please if anyone has any other idea's on how we can earn this money for this wonderful church going 16 yr old, then please help.

  45. Resolved Question: New Business Loan?
  46. 14 May 2008 at 1:06pm
I have been considering looking into this for some time. I have no clue on where to even begin, and to be honest my credit isn't that wonderful - but its mostly hospital bills. I am also unsure do to the economy lately and wonder how that would play a role in my getting a loan, and my opening up a business. Another thing that may give me an issue, especially with selling myself and the idea, is what type of buisness I want to open. I am presently going for a degree in psychology in which I would like to work in human sexuality/sex therapy/sex education. So I have this crazy wild dream of opening up a store somewhat like the Lion's Den (an adult store) with video's, toys, etc. But, I will offer something grander and more important along with these goodies - education! One thing I have learned that always stems out above the rest on this subject is that people just aren't educated enough when it comes to pregnancy, infections, etc. Running out of room will add more in additional details. I know this will be a difficult task. The laws, requirements, etc. But doesn't the idea of somewhere where it is like a mixture of an adult store, a wic, and a planned parenthood (as far as education and couseling) appeal to you? People, couples, whomever can come in with questions and concerns be it of helping their sec life with videos and toys, or if they are affraid of getting pregnant and disease. I envision it sectioned off of course. A part as the store, another part for questions, and "counseling". Do you think I have a shot in hell? How would I go about retrieving a loan? **PLEASE no comments on personal opinions how you think this is wrong, or ungodly - I'm looking for advice, not a preacher - only mature helpful answers please!!! Thank you

  47. Resolved Question: What are the rights and liabililties of a small business o...
  48. 14 May 2008 at 8:23am
My friend runs an LLC of which she is the sole employee. She does freelance engineering design, mainly fire protection for fire protection companies. She does much of her work with other small companies without signed contracts. One has decided to not pay her for services rendered. Does she have any recourse to recover these monies. Also, the same company has decided to backcharge her for additional expenditures they had to incur because of the approval/installation process (company occasionally installed prior to full approval by all applicable parties and now has to replace some heads). My impression would be that she was hired to provide a design document and it was the other company's obligation to approve that design and/or make sure it receives all necessary approvals. My belief is it is just a scare tactic to try to get her to back off of her demands to be paid. Again, probably would have been best to work with signed contracts, but it's too late for that now. Opinions?

  49. Resolved Question: How valuable is being SAP certified when applying for jobs.?
  50. 14 May 2008 at 4:28am
I'm a junior at CSU Chico and am a business major. I think my option is going to be HR. My school has one of the only SAP satellite contracts in the USA and they offer a certification that requires me to take 2 additional classes. I was wondering if any of you know how much SAP stands out and if the certification will help me find a job. I understand that obviously if acompnay does not run SAP there is no advantage and the SAP certification I'd look at is a general certification not a setup or MIS kind of thing. I'm just thinking that since there are into many schools offering the kind of training as CSU Chico who is one of two American campuses contracted with the German company then why not take advantage of the program. I assume that the classes I'd take are a general understanding and not necessarily intensive on HR programs.

  56. 11 May 2008 at 11:44am
This is just in from Sen. Coburn's office. Obama has authored a bill, and it is now in the Senate, to give the UN .7% of our GNP to be used to feed hungry 3rd worlders, AND to use UN force to disarm you and me and all gun owners. Why hasn?t the media brought this to the attention of the general sheeple out here. Sent: Monday, May 05, 2008 12:48 PM Subject: RE: Obama's bill S2433 passed the committee and going to the Senate Senator Coburn is blocking this bill. Patrick Guinn Obama's bill S2433 would require the U.S. to initially direct .7 percent of our GNP into the United Nations coffers for distribution as they see fit, for "food" to third world nations. Under earlier agreements this would evolve into a national tax on the U.S. with the UN attempting to levy this on all first world nations. The U.N. would have the power to increase this rate of taxation. The U.S. would be required to surrender some of its sovereignty over foreign aid by putting it under UN control. The bill would force the U.S. to sign onto the U.N.'s Millennium Declaration, which would commit us not only to "banning small arms and light weapons" but also to adhere to the International Criminal Court Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol. http://www.washingtonwatch.com/bills/show/110_SN_2433.html Detailed Summary Global Poverty Act of 2007 - Directs the President, through the Secretary of State, to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the U.S. foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day. Requires the strategy to contain specific and measurable goals and to consist of specified components, including: (1) continued investment or involvement in existing U.S. initiatives related to international poverty reduction and trade preference programs for developing countries; (2) improving the effectiveness of development assistance and making available additional overall United States assistance levels as appropriate; (3) enhancing and expanding debt relief as appropriate; (4) mobilizing and leveraging the participation of businesses and public-private partnerships; (5) coordinating the goal of poverty reduction with other internationally recognized Millennium Development Goals; and (6) integrating principles of sustainable development and entrepreneurship into policies and programs. Sets forth specified reporting requirements. Directs the Secretary of State to designate a coordinator who will have primary responsibility for overseeing and drafting the reports, as well as responsibility for helping to implement recommendations contained in the reports.
Defines specified terms. Status of the Legislation Latest Major Action: 4/24/2008: Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar No. 718. http://kilosparksitup.blogspot.com/2008/02/more-on-barack-obama-s2433-global.html More on Barack Obama's S.2433 : Global Poverty Act We know for a fact that this bill will cost America $845 billion above and beyond what America already spends on global aid in the next thirteen years. America will be locked in to giving .7 percent of the U.S. gross national product. That in itself is scary enough, but there is way more to Obama's bill. It also locks us into United Nations Millennium Summit. Cliff Kincaid from Accuracy in Media is all over this bill. He writes-(Underlined by me) The bill institutes the United Nations Millennium Summit goals as the benchmarks for U.S. spending. "It is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day," a statement issued by supporters, including Obama, said. Specifically, it would "declare" that the official U.S. policy is to eliminate global poverty, that the president is "required" to "develop and implement" a strategy to reach that goal and requires that the U.S. efforts be "specific and measurable." Kincaid said that after cutting through all of the honorable-sounding goals in the plan, the bottom line is that the legislation would mandate the 0.7 percent of the U.S. GNP as "official development assistance." "In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention of the Rights of the Child," he said. Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims. Kincaid also reported Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the "Millennium Project," confirms a U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP would add about $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already donates overseas. And the only way to raise that funding, Sachs confirms, "is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels," Kincaid writes. On the forum run by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, one writer reported estimates of taxes from 35 cents to $1 dollar a gallon on gasoline would be needed.(LINK) This ladies and gentleman is the Barack Obama vision for America . WND called Obama's office and the others who support this bill....No comments. http://kilosparksitup.blogspot.com/2008/02/stop-sen-obama-s2433-global-poverty-act.ht ml

(in BC, Canada) I have a friend who has agreed to additional rent for the use of an existing patio for additional seating at her restaurant. However, the city has deemed this space unusable, as the fire exit for an upstairs tenant lets out onto this patio, and the patio lacks the necessary foodsafe facilities (Ie. a water fixture, proper lighting, etc). The building owners neglected to mention these things when the agreement was made, but now expects my friend to still pay for this space. Is this agreement still valid?

I'm designing a site that is based on domestic services to help me generate some extra income in my spare time. What are some good things to add? I currently only have house sitting and dog walking. I want to put effort into the housekeeping area before posting it up since it can be so complex. What are other ideas? They don't have to be just additional services, anything helpful is appreciated. The only other things on the site are contact info and a payment policy.

  63. Voting Question: make correction to my last years corporation taxes?
  64. 9 May 2008 at 5:26pm
So here is the situation. My corp had a 20K income last year (2007). Now my corp doesn't have a business account. All the money came to my pocket (my account). Now I showed that 20K as income, and my corp paid taxes on it (check was written from my personal account). Now I want to correct it to avoid double taxation. Can I tell them that the 20K was disbursed to me (the sole share holder) as profit last year. Hence the payment my corp made to IRS for corp tax should be refunded back to me. How would I do that. I suppose I will also have to make correction to my personal income tax as well to show that additional 20K income. Thanks in advance :-)

  67. Resolved Question: Legal or illegal - Tradmark/Copyright?
  68. 8 May 2008 at 12:23pm
I am starting a catering/bakery business and would like to have a picture of a wedding cake next to my co. name. I noticed there is another bakery online that also has a picture of a cake next to their name. I am not copying the same exact cake, my colors will be different, and I am going to add an additional layer to mine. Would that still be considered copying a trademark from someone? The business name will be similar because they both will have the word bakery in it. Other than that completely different. I have read so much about copyrights and trademarks, that I?m confused. The person that is creating my website do not want to use the cake picture, because he states that it is a copy right issue, and he doesn?t want to get in any trouble. Question: If I make my own unique trademark that is similar (because we are in the bakery business), would that be considered illegal?

  70. 8 May 2008 at 10:45am
I have a very good friend whom have been there for me through thick and thin, She has even confided in me personal problems that you would only confess to your priest. Yesterday night while I was having dinner with a business associate in a very hip and trendy restaurant (((((I never hit that area of town)))) I saw her husband having dinner as well but with her sister. Funny tho, they were more than just having dinner and when they left to get into his car, they kissed deeply and for a long time in the parking lot. I know I can not tell my dear friend about this because it will devastate her and not only her marriage will be in jeopardy, but the relationship between sisters will take a tole as well......Wow ,,,,,but I am soooooooo up set, to the fact that they are been so carefree about the affair that I want to approach them and just tell them what they deserve,,,,,I am torn between kicking her butt or just beating the crap out of him. Who should I face? * 1 hour ago * - 1 week left to answer. Additional Details 43 minutes ago I just want to make clear that I will never be the one telling my friend,,,,,,,,She just had a mayor health problem and will not be able to handle something like this. 72. 8 May 2008 at 7:30am
She's always being mean to me and thinks it's funny. She tells me that she's going to beat me up. She tells me that I'm a troublemaker and annoying, and tells my friends they shouldn't hang out with me for that reason. She also talks about who I hang out with and is mean to them. She asked me why I hang out with younger people. One time she told someone that I was talking to her outside of class and her face got all red. She's always in my business. One time I asked her could I sit out in the hall, and she said I could and that she wasn't going to miss me. Well I came back in, and her assistant said that she was ignoring me. Well later on, when she was passing out papers, I caught her looking at me, and she looked down and held her lips to try not to smile. 12 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer. I own a business (LLC) with two other people. It is only us three; we do not have any additional employees. We pay for our health insurance through our business. Based on these facts, I was wondering how much I stand to save on my personal taxes. Is this a standard write off like any other business expense or does the IRS treat health insurance differently?

  75. Resolved Question: What you think, any good?
  76. 6 May 2008 at 4:26pm
An environment can be defined as anything which surrounds a system. Therefore, the business environment is anything which surrounds a business organisation. It affects a firm?s decisions, strategies, processes and performance. In failing to respond to its environment, a firm?s profitability is likely to decline as a result. But in spotting emerging trends businesses can succeed spectacularly and can capitalise greatly. The events which directly impinge on a firm?s activities constitute the micro-environment. This consists of a number of stakeholder groups ? customers, suppliers, employees, board of directors and creditors. The macro-environment comprises the forces outside the firm which indirectly affect the firm?s activities. For example, the smoking ban introduced in Feb 2006 induced a change in the macro-environment. ...see additional details Theodor Levitt diagnosed firms which failed to acknowledge their environment with ?marketing myopia?. He believed the primary cause of marketing short-sightedness is the firm?s inability to accurately predict the future. For example, Northern Rock suffered marketing myopia in 2007 when it failed to acknowledge its escalating problems in the credit markets caused by the US subprime mortgage financial crisis.

I know I only have one year to join (as I understand 39 is the age limits) I am not sure if this may be right for me....I checked online and seemed to be a interesting idea to do and this will allow me to get additional training for a "new" job, and also to help pay back my student loans and be able to travel as well. Why would an American entrepreneur who is starting a business of manufacturing umbrellas and selling them in the United States need to be knowledgeable of international trade laws? She may end up importing raw materials from South America. She may end up purchasing umbrella components from East Asia. She may end up outsourcing production of one component to Southeast Asia. all of the above none of the above Why have some countries provided incentives for families to send their girls to school? These countries have discovered that girls are more likely to succeed in subjects such as science and math. Cultural resistance to educating females has resulted in inequality between males and females in education. Governments with federal budget surpluses need additional ways in which to spend their money. These countries have parliaments where women hold more seats than their male counterparts.

  82. 5 May 2008 at 6:49pm
$100,000 is money that I would like to do something with to make some extra cash. I have been putting $100,000 in CD every year. Now that the rates have gone down I would like to do something else with it. I currently have about $30k in the stock market. I don't have enough faith in the stock market to put an additional $100k in the stock market. I am also planning on starting a small business. Besides getting a mid 700s on the GMAT, and having a solid few yearsof work experience once I'm out of undergraduate, what should I do as an undergraduate student to ensure my chances of getting into the Yale School of management to get my MBA? Can anyone speak from experience? Additional Details Just to add to the specifics, as people asked me what kind of school Kelley was: the Kelley School of Business ranks in the top 10 business schools in America according to Businessweek, and is #11 according to U.S News (tied with Cornell). It is also ranked #7 in the nation for finance and #2 for entrepreneurship. It is one of 3 b schools in the nation to have all its programs ranked in the top 20. It has a 91% job placement rate as soon as people Its graduate ranks higher than Yale's according to Businessweek. oh yeah, and Kelley is the business school of Indiana Bloomington EDIT: Ranks higher than Yale's SOM according to Businessweek. (haha, it would be absurd to say that Indiana Bloomington ranks above Yale in any respect in the undergraduate). - just wanted to clarify that

Okay, my dad was on a business trip for 2 weeks. While he was gone, with my OWN money I have been saving up for for a really long time for this, I bought a Wii. Now my dad is really pissed because he already bought us a PS3 and he thinks that the Wii is ridiculous and we should return it. And I REALLY want to keep the Wii, BUT when my mom comes home from work he will immediately talk to he about how the Wii is not needed and then she will take my side and defend me. My dad HATES it when she does this and it will just become more of a fight and will get really bad. But then again, he is being ridiculous because he didn't even have to PAY FOR IT!!!! It is a matter of what to do. Also I am got into a laptop program and before I even got the Wii he didn't want to get me one. I'm am going crazy knowing that in the end I will probably have to give it up. And my mom and my sister really enjoy it too! I still want people's opinion anyway. * 12 minutes ago * - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 5 minutes ago There is absolutely NO WAY HE WILL GIVE UP HIS PRECIOUS PS3. 2 minutes ago And Target just happened to have Wii's when he was gone. That part is not my fault and I did not wait for him to leave town. Jeez 1 minute ago AND I had my mom's permission.

  99. Resolved Question: I have a new business idea. Is this something people would...

The business would cost about $5000.00 and is aimed at families with kids in school. The work is part time, about 9 hours a week, and would generate an average of about $17,000 a year in rev. and a gross income of $14,000. I would provide customer support and training. It could take about 6 months for a person to build their customer base and can't really be done full time. If the kids are in Junior High or High School they can work the business too but I think most geographic markets will be saturated at the $17,000 rev mark. That is to say, the owners of the business won't want to travel as far as they would need to, to develop additional sales. The work needs to be performed on weekends and week nights and requires a good relationship with schools. So, is this the kind of thing people would want? (I know I haven't given a lot of details about the work but I do need to keep part of it under my hat - plus I'm not trying to sell it at this point.< >
