Hmmm... a local light opera company in my city is also doing this show and they're asking for a song or aria in English. I don't know the show, however given that requirement and the fact that it's composed by Victor Herbert and it's technically an operetta, Disney songs are going to be too simplified. Are you a child or an adult? Either way, I would suggest looking at some standard legit Broadway - Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Loesser. If you have it, something from a Gilbert and Sullivan would work too. Best of luck! Edit: Just wanted to add and not to step on toes or anything, but be careful with Poor Wandering One. It has some difficult coloratura in it, especially at the end when it goes up to a high Eb. It sits pretty high in the voice as well (in opera terms, it has a high tessitura) so if you're not a high soprano, it really won't sound good. If you're looking for Disney songs, I'm guessing you don't have tons of experience, so I would actually advise staying away from the operetta rep (despite what I said above about Gilbert and Sullivan). If you haven't had classical training, it will show when you try to sing these songs. There are plenty of easy, non-rangey legit songs that could work. Check out some of these: (by the way, these could be sung by either a mezzo or a soprano, since you don't say which one you are) In My Own Little Corner - Cinderella What's the use of Wonderin - Carousel Many a New Day - Oklahoma Hello, Young Lovers - The King and I

Are you talking about the Noddy Books? they are about a wooden doll and his friends in Toyland...written by Enid Blyton. There is a delightful website called www.Noddy.com
The original name of the movie went back and forth between Babes in Toyland and March of the Wooden Soldiers. It stars Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel. The setting is Toyland -- where all the characters are from Mother Goose, or children's stories, etc. The basic plot is that Ollie and Stan's mom is about to get kicked out of her shoe (She's the Old Woman who lived in a Shoe) so they go to ask Santa (whom they work for) for an advance on their pay. But things don't go the way they'd like. Old Barnaby (the villian of the piece) wants to marry Bo Peep (who's mom is also the Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe) but Bo Peep loves Tom Tom. Barnaby threatens to kick out the Old Woman and her kids unless Bo Beep marries him. She agrees, but Stan and Ollie arrange to hide Stan under the bridal veil so Stan marries Barnaby not Bo Peep. Barnaby vows revenge. More hi-jinks ensue (at one point Stan and Ollie try to sneak into Barnaby's house). Tom Tom is eventually thought to have eaten the littlest pig (Barnaby set him up). There's some fun in the middle where Old King Cole has Stan and Ollie dunked in the pond and Ollie almost drowns. More things go a-wry, and Barnaby goes to get the Boogie-Men monsters to show them all! Ollie and Stan rescue Bo Peep and Tom Tom from Boogie-Land and race back to Toyland, where they engage the 6 foot wooden soldiers to fight the Boogie-Men. (Santa had ordered 600 1 foot tall soldiers and they'd gotten the order wrong and had ordered 100 6 feet tall soldiers.) The soldiers roust the boogie-men. As a send-off Ollie and Stan bring out the canon, fill it with darts and aim it. But the canon flips over and shoots Ollie in the bum, so Stan has to pull the darts out one by one--ouchie! The song (I believe) is the march song that is played while the Wooden Soldiers roust the boogie-men (or bogey-men) from Toyland. It's got a lot of trumpet in it, and drums, and is very militaristic and swells up at the end into a victorious sounding tune. The movie was originally filmed in black and white and has since been colorized.

Babes in Toyland, a (1961) musical film in Technicolor, was directed by Jack Donohue. It could not have been the great Rory Emerald, as he was not yet born in 1961.

Go to Amazon.com under Babes in Toyland Soundtrack one had Laurel and Hardy the other had Ray Bolger and Tommy Sands. In that version the musical score features 11 songs from the in-house team of George Bruns (music) and Mel Leven (lyrics), and their score was nominated for an Academy Award.

They were one of the original riot grrl acts of the 90's. I liked them a lot at the time. The thing I recall most about BIT was it ended up being the only concert I was ejected from (wasn't my fault, I swear). Kat Bjelland was an amazing performer. It seems like they had their greatest success once they got signed to the major label, but they broke up two years removed from Nemesisters. Favorite songs included: Sweet 69 - this was the official jam of the summer of 95, great guitar work. Killer on the Road 22 Bruise Violet - so intense Blue Bell Won't Tell - so very creepy! He's My Thing
I have it, the original one that is with Laurel and Hardy. Usually around christmas Walmart carries it in their stores for like $7.50
I thought nobody else in the world would care anymore about great underground music made in the 90's, so that lifted my spirits today. Yes I bought PAINKILLERS on tape from a second hand store many, many moons ago and was floored by sounds I'd never heard before, especially from a petite blonde dresden doll like Mrs Bjelland. My fave song has got to be Ya know that guy
Oh my Rozz, I love you.. LOL They're one of my favourite bands and /no one/ ever asks about them. Here are a few of my favourites; Mother Real Eyes Dust Cake Boy Handsome Gretel Spun Mater Dolorosa Spit to See the Shine He's My Thing Right Now If you want something slow and calm, listen to their instrumental song named Quiet Room, it's a lovely song. Pain in my Heart is also somewhat slower than the majority of their songs. It's another one of my favourites. In my opinion they were /much/ better than Hole. I think Kat Bjelland is more talented both vocally and in terms of playing guitar compared to Courtney. They seemed grittier, realer than Hole. I do like Hole, but compared to the Babes, they seem like a not-so-great imitation.
