I would think the origin of wearing backstage or background crews wearing black is from Banraku. Bunraku (Japanese: 文楽), also known as Ningyō jōruri (人形浄瑠璃), is a form of traditional Japanese puppet theater, founded in Osaka in 1684....The puppeteers, who perform in full view of the audience, wear black robes, and the lower-ranking left arm and foot puppeteers wear a black hood over their heads. The main puppeteer, however, usually performs unhooded in most Bunraku traditions. [1]
The puppeteers are usually dressed in black robes; the assistants wear black hoods over their heads to become invisiblein the audience's eyes. [3]
Essentially, the backstage crew in Bunraku, which is a type of theatre, wear black.
First, commendations on being willing to learn how to speak a language in an effort to better communicate with the workers. Not all are so progressively openminded.
I teach crafts classes in a very multi-cultural area. The majority of my students are often hispanics who speak broken english, but fluent spanish. When I asked them if it would be helpful to take a Spanish class or read How to Speak Spanish books, they laughed and said, No, those books don't teach REAL spanish. They suggested taking a Conversational Spanish course at a local community college.
Also, the students with whom I was attempting to communicate (in your case, the workers) gradually taught me how to say the phrases/instructions that I used over and over again. In other words, the people themselves became the best resource in learning their language.
Also, most people are more than flattered and highly appreciative when you tell them that you'd like to learn their language to better communicate with them. It gains the respect and favor of most people, so please be sure to tell your workers.
Your attitude is great and the exact reverse of the--unfortunate,--but common American attitude of, This is the US. So learn how to speak American English. Or else.
Hope that helps!
You have grown up thinking that what someone says or thinks controls how you feel. This is not true.
It is always the way we see things that make the way it is. You need to change the way you look at things.
For example - If someone lost their job, they can think it is the end of the world for me. Or they can look at it another way. They can think what a wonderful opportunity I now have to find a better job, one that I love and more money.
If someone doesn't like you, you can think woe is me, I'm very unpopular without any friends. Or you can think thank you my friend for showing me that I need to love myself more, so that you can love me.
If you want anything, you have to give it away first.
If you want to be loved or liked by others, - you have to like or love others.
If you want friends - you have to give friendship to others.
if you want happiness - you have to give happiness to others.
Do all the above and more for others, and then watch the friendships grow. As this grows, your self confidence will grow, as you see just how clever and nice you are.
Once you can see you are a really nice person, others will see that you are also.
The power is in your hands.
it tends to b more clubs then bands which have people who hand out fliers. If your in a band and looking for people to advertis for you then you can advertise for workers on myspace or if you're looking to hand out fliers then you can go to your local clubs and see which ones are looking for workers :)
gas powered generators chanrge the cameras at night
Before they pull the hose from the refueling truck, they connect a grounding cable to somewhere on the airplanes airframe. I know in smaller aircraft, they typically just clamp the cable to the eyelet on one of the wings used to tie down the airplane. It doesn't really matter where it is connected to. As long as the grounding cable is there. But yeah.
there's loadz of requirement. you must be at least certain height. your weight should not exceed the limit. you should not wear glasses. You must speak good English, able to write and reply perfectly. Different uniform altogether, if you're talking about the MAJOR airlines (been to airport way too many times to look at the crew and pilots).
Pilot and cockpit crew usually have white shirt and black military-look suits with stripes on the sleeves (silver or gold, depending on company standard). And they almost always wear a pilot's hat, with necktie. Female pilots may do the same, or use the civilian equivalent of the military female uniform (remember Jessica Biel's character in Stealth? Her uniform at the end on the carrier).

Cabin crew wears company colors. Female attendants usually have very feminine dresses (esp. Singapore airlines!) while male attendants wear white shirt with a sportscoat of company colors.

I live in New Orleans and there are a lot of films shot down here (believe it or not.) A friend of mine stood in for Elizabeth Shue on a film recently and she had to lie down on a grave for like an hour while the camera people set up the shot, etc. She said she wasn't creeped out til one of the sound guys made some joke and she got freaked out by all the bugs and the idea that there was a dead person six feet below her...
Check with local Building Inspector's office. I live in Michigan and construction can begin after 8 AM.
talk to your pilots before or after your next flight
No offence dude.... but never underestimate a cabin crew's job.... I had a misconception on cabin crew's job scope like you too until i read a book about the life of a flight attendent.... its alot more challenging and difficult than wat most people think.....
During flight, they have alot more job than serving coffee or tea.... for example,
-they have to know about the destination they are heading to...
-they have to pacify crying babies....
-they have to make sure the well behaviour of passengers ( there are alot of troublesome passengers ) ,
-they have to perform emergency rescue should there be any medical emergencies onboard ( CPR , and the thing u do when someone chokes... don't know what its called )..
-they have to make sure the safety of passengers, and keep the captain posted on the situation of the cabins...
-they are the fire rescuers if there is a fire..
-they have to handle rude and troublesome politely
-they have to be a good listener ( when passengers keep complaining about everything... )
-they have to make sure they look good always.... ( company policy )
- Female flight attendents have to handle those perverts politely all the time...
-They have to smile all the time... even when they do not feel like smiling.... imagine hearing loads and loads of complaints and grumbles almost everyday and yet u have to keep smiling.... now, that's what i call challenging!! not many can do so!!
No doubt, a flight crew's job is challenging and stressful.... but hey! doesn't the job scope up there make u think that cabin crews' job is as challenging as flight crews' ? or even more stressful than their's..
therefore, i adamantly think that cabin crews are paid just fine... their salaries suit their responsibilities pefectly....
I recommend this book The Sky Is Crazy - Tales from a trolley dolly by Yvonne Lee to anyone who which to have a better understanding on a flight attendent's job....
All US planes deployed for combat could have nose art. I have never seen any training aircraft with nose art. Much of the nose art was of the Vargas Girl collection. For a period during WWII, Walt Disney sent many of his artists to paint nose art on bombers prior to their deployment.
I was with the Confederate Air Force (now the Commemorative Air Force) for many years. You may find some good pictures of nose art from their aircraft collection and their nose art gallery. Look up American Heritage Aircraft Museum or Commemorative Air Force.
I was wondering the same thing. I mean the helicopters are some times a hinderance for the cops, they are getting in the way. The reason the suspect can be held accountable I guess is because it is Arizona and there is a lot of government there.
I cant say if it is within policy or not, but considering the pay scale, they should be able to take tips.
Yes they do ... you are driving through their jobsite ... do what you're told til it's safe to go .... It's not hard to do .
Closing the curtain between the different class sections on the airlines is done for a couple of reasons. It keeps people in coach from becoming anxious/upset that they're got a lower number of flight attendants serving them (people get pretty angry if it takes 45 minutes for the drinks trolley to reach them and they see 2 flight attendants pampering the 4 rows of passengers in first or business class). It also discourages coach class passengers from coming forward and using the first class or business class lavatories. It also keeps people in the rear-ward sections from grumbling about having to pay for the movies when the business or first class sections show them for free. All in all, it's to keep the coach passengers out of the more elite sections and keep complaining to a minimum.
YES! And I especially hate it when, on the wildlife documentaries, they anthropomorthize the animals they are filming. I like watching the documentaries to learn more about the animals and their environments, but I hate it when the voiceover says things like, Francis is jealous of Martha because Sam is paying more attention to Martha than Francis! Poor, jealous Francis wants all of Sam's attention herself, so she is going to kick Martha out of the burrow. And now whatever will poor Martha do? or whatever. I mean, I think animals do have feelings, and probably very similar to humans, but to attribute all sorts of things like jealousy and greed, etc. - it turns the noble and pure struggle for survival among interesting creatures into a creepy, voyeuristic soap opera starring animals. Yuck.
Most drivers never practice with their pit crews. The pit crews will have practice, but someone else drives the car.
Unless a driver is testing somewhere, he will not drive a car in any type of practice outside of the practices that typically fall on Friday and Saturday at the track they are racing at that particular week.
