Jazz doesn't sell many new CDs so music stores become lazy and group them with something else. Be glad they aren't grouped with folk music.
Folk-sy, singer-songwriter music. Something that is relaxing and makes you want to fall asleep (in the good way). This is my own opinion in easy listening artists (they're mostly indie) IronWine Meiko Joshua Radin Ingrid Michaelson Norah Jones
Here's a few suggestions...maybe you'll like some of them. :) Jose Gonzalez Rocky Votolato Iron Wine Elliott Smith Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst (probably not so easy-listening sometimes, but one of my all time favorites, so I had to include him. :)) M. Ward Sufjan Stevens Devendra Banhart DeVotchka (If you search for this, there's also a punk-ish/hardcore-ish band called Devotchkas, just so you know the difference...DeVotchka was the main artist in the soundtrack for the movie Little Miss Sunshine, if you're familiar with that...) Nick Drake Jolie Holland Andrew Bird (unique combo of violin guitar...he's awesome.) Damien Jurado Ray LaMontagne David Gray Gary Jules Two Gallants (more bluesy rock guitar most of the time) Katie Melua Bon Iver Bonnie Prince Billy Ben Harper Glen Hansard/Marketa Irglova/The Frames Laura Veirs Anna Ternheim Emiliana Torrini Vashti Bunyan Seabear Alexi Murdoch Vetiver Sun Kil Moon Red House Painters Mark Kozelek I'm sure you'll find at least a few you'll like there, or at least I hope so. A few of them use piano more than guitar, and some use other string instruments, but it's the same nice mellow sound. I could probably come up with hundreds more, really. These are just off the top of my head, and I'm sure I'm missing quite a few who I'd consider favorites. :P You could probably find something by most of them on youtube. Maybe I'll add some links to videos later. If you're not already familiar with Pandora.com or last.fm, you might want to check them out. Great ways to discover new music...
I haven't heard them. Im so glad your back. I missed you :)
Turn on Yahoo Music (which wasn't working today) or www.live365.com. Both will offer a variety of music that you are looking to hear you can try some stuff out. My personal favorite are: Nat King Cole Bing Crosby The Carpenters The Lettermen Michael W Smith If you go to Target you can buy a wow CD that provides one CD will the old timers listed above (and Ella Fitzgerald) then a modern version on the other CD. Sarah McLaughlin has a great winter cd James Taylor.

I don't know if this is the song you heard, but I have a beautiful song for you. It's called Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks. If you would like me to e-mail it to you, please e-mail me and let me know if you want it. I will send it to you as an attachment.
Artists such as Sade, Etta James, Amy Winehouse They are soulful, smooth, the music is timeless!!!
Yep - my wife and I had the same problem. So, we borrowed, bought and hired various cd's of this type of music (you can hire them from your public library) and put them all on to DVDs. You need to buy the software to do this - try Power 2 Go, you can download it fairly cheaply. We now have 6 DVDs with 900 tracks on each. That's 5,400 different tracks of only music we like. No adverts and no DJs prattling on. Reckoning that a track averages 4 minutes which is probably about right for this type of music - that's 360 hours of music. If you play them for 8 hours per day, 7 days a week, they will only repeat every 6 weeks. Play them for 4 hours a day and that goes up to every 3 months. Of course If you have the equipment (and it's not too expensive) you can transfer old LPs and tapes onto DVDs. and as you probably know you can pick those up in charity shops for next to nothing.
People who like elevators. People 50 and up? You must not know many of us.... People with tin ears. People who want to focus on work and not be distracted by music (elevator music is white noise-just patterned sound to distract focus, so the listener can be molded into focusing on something else.
maybe u r talking bout iris by goo goo dolls, not sure though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsK90GWBVLY
My recommendations: -Adiemus (often mistakenly mixed with Enya) -Secret Garden (very Celtic!!) -Eri Sugai (from Japan) -Loreena McKennitt (again very Celtic) -Moya Brennan (she's Enya's sister!) -Miriam Stockley (the ex-soloist of Adiemus has some solo albums) -Sissel (what a voice!) -Libera (if you like angelic boy choirs)
nina gordon esp. tonight and the rest of my life, also norah jones
In my experience, people who love easy listening-type music simply like it better because they don't have a passion for other styles of music, and it's easier on their ears.
Into The Night....Benny Mardones Love Is Blue....Paul Mauriat Orchestra Unchained Melody....Righteous Brothers
