  1. Voting Question: Audio setup problem: 5.1 Sound only from DVD, not from Sky+?...
  2. 17 Feb 2008 at 4:32am
Hi there. I have a major headache from trying to figure this out - PLEASE can someone help!! Here is the equipment I am dealing with (no wise cracks pls - I know its budget): 1. Hanspree Xv-S LCD Telly (2x Scart, 1x HDMI, L & R Audio, Component, Svideo & PC connection) 2. Sky + Box (digital) 3. Eltax DV254 DVD player (5.1 sound, 1x HDMI). 4. 5.1 Speaker system - power sub. Okay so the speakers are connected to the DVD with RCA cables - straight 5.1 to 5.1. DVD then connects to TV with HDMI. Then DVD to Sky+ with Scart. Sky+ to TV with Scart. I get perfect sound when watching DVD's - but only get sound from the TV when watching Sky. There are no other outputs/inputs on the DVD except for Coaxial output. I'm going nuts trying to figure this out! The only way to get sound from the 5.1 speakers is to disconnect the DVD & connect them directly to the Sky + box which is a MAJOR hassle becoz of my wall unit! I can't afford an AV receiver right now - any advice please??

  8. 17 Feb 2008 at 2:15am
Some people predict that man and machine will merge. Already we have machines that assist disabled ones to speak and move, and have artificial machine limbs for those missing them. But what about robots being implanted in people's brains to make them more intelligent, or modifying our bodies with machines to give us super strength or to be able to do more than what God gave us the ability to do? Should we be happy with the body equipment God gave us, or is our body our own to modify as we please? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7248875.stm

  13. Resolved Question: How do I setup a Vista-XP network?
  14. 17 Feb 2008 at 1:33am
I have a Vista Home Premium PC and a XP Service Pack 2 PC. Both of them have a normal Network Card with one Network port. I also have a crossover cable. So, I want to setup a network with the crossover cable. I have no idea how to do that. I have already given both computers the same workgroup name (and it is not MSHOME) and I have connected them with the crossover cable. I want to know whether or not I can setup a network with the equipment that I currently have. So, I dont want to buy a router or a network swith at the moment. Can someone please walk me through the process. I would really appreciate any help and advice.

  15. Resolved Question: Do you think the community is getting a raw deal?
  16. 17 Feb 2008 at 12:34am
In Elk city Oklahoma two city employees were recently convicted of negligent endangerment and lying to federal agents when they forced inmates to work in an asbestos infested renovation of a railroad depot with out proper protective equipment. I read in the paper today that they are currently in the appeals process both have received a stay of sentence until the appeals process has ended. I was personally displeased to read that they are also still employed by Elk city and currently on the payroll. So my question is do you think the community is getting a raw deal paying employees that have been tried and found guilty of such horrible things? Do you think that they should get to keep their jobs after the have served their time...which by the way is only 8 months for one and 18 months for the other.

  35. Resolved Question: Stainless Steel Water Tank cracked. How can i fixed?
  36. 16 Feb 2008 at 9:37pm
My stainless steel water tank is cracked and all water in the tank leaked away just in a night. The problem is that the tank is put underground, in a room, and the room is just a little bigger than the tank. There's not enough space for a man and his equipments to weld the tank, because the welding machine need some extra space to run safely The crack locate at the bottom of the tank, just a small crack abour 2 - 3 cm length, 3mm width. I think that i could use some kind of glue to fix that crack, but i have no idea what kind of glue should i use. Is there any better solution that using glue? Thank you very much for your time.

  37. Resolved Question: Where to find good deals on Jeep Hard Tops?
  38. 16 Feb 2008 at 9:27pm
I am shopping around for a Jeep Hard top, and I have looked on several websites. All the ones on Ebay require pickup only -- no shipping, and they also do not have many details and do not come with the sealer, tools, and other needed equipment. However, the new tops on sites like Best Top are $3,000+ and that is way out of my price range. I need one to fit a 95 Wrangler and they are always more expensive. Why? Is it because they are an older model? Anyone know any other sites or resources that I could try? What other things should I look for when buying a hard top?

  51. Resolved Question: Any truckers or relatives/friends of truckers out there?
  52. 16 Feb 2008 at 7:50pm
What can you tell me about the company Star Transport, Inc. based in Morton, IL, as far as experiences driving with the company? Not the Star Transport based in Nashville. This one is a totally different company. Also, has anyone had any bad experiences with working for a trucking company (as in being left for hours and even days, unpaid and waiting...bad equipment, etc.), and have any experience with getting out of the company gracefully and on with a good company? Any advice for someone new in the business without the required experience time to get on with a good company? Do some companies bend the rules and perhaps let people 'test out', so to speak, to avoid having to go through extensive training or waiting time that is unnecessary? I appreciate your responses in advance. Cindy, thank you. :) That's always something to keep in mind, or driving a bus or something like that too. Suzanne, thanks for that website! It's great, and I did find some info I was looking for on Star as well, as well as the fact that it looks like problems are with a lot of companies. I've heard of Crete and that they have good trucks.

  63. Resolved Question: Does this sound like dog allergies?
  64. 16 Feb 2008 at 5:31pm
My fiance always gets these rashes. They first came up on the inside of his elbows a few years ago and we thought it was a heat rash he got from his hockey equipment. So he started washing them weekly and the rash improved. After a week and a half after we adopted our dog, my fiance got a rash on his pubic area around his testicles. He thought it was from using an old razor (he shaves down there). He also got it on his armpits, which he also shaves. A few days afterwards, he started getting rashes on his face and neck. He says they're hives and last night he said they're an allergic reaction to the dog. Do you think that's correct? I find it odd that he only has these rashes in the areas that he shaves. I suggested he go to a doctor but he keeps making excuses and saying it's the dog. Oh, and he's definitely allergic to cats. When he's around a cat, he can't breathe and itches all over. He can breathe ok around the dog. Thanks in advance for your help. arkpudel - lol, that would be disturbing! Fortunately (for me) that's not the case... I actually meant that he started washing his hockey equipment weekly. He didn't do that before because there's some hockey superstition about how it's bad luck to wash equipment before the end of the season. Yuck...

  68. 16 Feb 2008 at 5:24pm
I have been taking photos for years with a nice point and shoot. I think I have developed a good eye for content, but it is time to actually have good equipment to go with it. There is only so far PhotoShop can take you if the original is not high quality. My point and shoots are a Minolta Dimage Z2 and a Olympus Stylus 770Sw for underwater. I have a few lenses for the Dimage that have helped, but I think I am ready for the next level. I need advice on two things 1) Best entry level manual control digital camera - possibly a DSLR - at the best price for what you get (prefer under $1000 if possible) 2) Best book and/or other information about f stops, exposure, etc. that you need to know for using these types of cameras.

Can my wife stop me taking my children to my parents house, if that house is a farm and if one of the occupants has been convicted of manslaughter? The farm equipment is in lockable barns and I would not let them wander unaccompanied anyway and this person was released and has proven records that he is not a danger to anyone. She will also not allow me to take them anywhere in my car, because I smoke, but I have told her I will not smoke in the car and will clean it before I take them any where. She is setting restrictions to my seeing the children (3 boys aged 1,3 & 5). She has said that she wont stop me ever seeing them, but only on her terms. What can I do? I live in The UK, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  79. Resolved Question: How Do I Clean My Waterford Crystal Decanter?
  80. 16 Feb 2008 at 3:49pm
My girlfriend just inherited a few items from her Granny and Grandad who have now passed away. This stuff included some lovely silver pieces which I have cleaned up using Goddards Silver Polish with no trouble but another piece she got was a lovely Waterford Cut Crystal wine decanter. The decanter is the sort that has a high neck and a flast base so it is nearly impossible to clean inside without the aid of some serious equipment. There are some stains on the bottom on the inside which I tried to remove with hot soapy water and while this cleaned the rest of the decanter beautifully, it didn't get rid of the stains inside, does anyone know any solution I can make in the kitchen that will get rid of these marks and leave the inside of the decanter clean and sparkly????

  89. Resolved Question: Can I purchase my own cable box?
  90. 16 Feb 2008 at 3:04pm
We already subscribe to digital basic service and rent one box for the living room. However, there's dirt-cheap boxes on eBay of the same make and model. The FCC's cable act states that if I purchase my own equipment and it is technically compatible with the system, they have to honor my request to turn it on as long as I pay any accompaning fees. However, my reasoning is that since we pay for the digital basic subscription and one box, if I buy another box myself, the only thing we have to pay is an activation fee or so, not another monthly fee since I'm not renting. Am I correct? We have Comcast in NEPA.

I just want to lose a tiny bit of weight in my thighs. Will eating this hurt me or help me? What sort of excercise can a 14 year old do with no treadmill or excercise equipment, in the middle of winter? Again, just a tiny bit of weight. I'm not asking to be stick thin, and I don't think i'm fat.
