  1. Resolved Question: Give up Student Council and focus on grades? Or would it b...
  2. 16 Feb 2008 at 11:07pm
Student Council elections are coming up, and I have a guaranteed position as Deputy Prime Minister (Vice). Yet, I've realized that. throughout my highschool career (grade 11 at the moment) my grades slowly decline as I step up in extra curricular activities, from low 90s, to mid 80s. I have been in DECA for the past 3 years, and one year being an executive. This year I'm currently Minister of Student Resources in Student Council. What I'm asking here is advice to whether or not to focus on grades more with clubs on the low side, with expected marks of around a 90. Or should I take the position as vice and make my focus around extra curricular activities, of course with the effort of trying to do good in school, without a high expectation of higher grades of course. I do have other activities also. Those being a job, Tae Kwon Do, Badminton, and possibly other clubs but with less concentration with those. What would Universities prefer, Truthfully? Thanks a lot everyone. Johnny

  3. Resolved Question: Give up my stay at home position for an office job w more ...
  4. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:54pm
I have been working as a web marketing specialist (and stand-in web designer) for a company for 6 months. The company is made up for 4 full time employees and a lot of contractors, of which I am one but am one of the only ones (if not the only one) that works almost full time hours. I have a LOT of flexibility, working from home, (naps during work hours... great!), and it helps being able to take time off for my child's things without having to give much notice. Lately however i have felt underappreciated, and they want me to start making the long commute to the office twice a week, and have cut me down to 35 hours. Still, VERY flexible. New job offer comes up, I go through the interview process, for kicks, and am actually excepted with a 38K salary (about the same after taxes as my current position) . Its got a title and potential benefits. I havent worked in a corporate environment for 6 months. I am scared to accept the offer and to loose the freedom. insight? What would you do? Sorry for my misspelling, I wrote that on 2 hours of sleep, you really need to chill out.

  7. Resolved Question: do I really need to use primer in the room I drywalled?
  8. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:15pm
Okay...so I put in new drywall...mudded it as needed a couple of times...sanded...did a final all wall mudding. Did a smooth and careful job. Kind of a utility room and guest bedroom. Most people say use primer before painting..but there seems to be a strong minority position that it is not necessary. I would prefer to just put down a couple of coats of paint. If that is what I end up doing...any suggestions...really super duper paint...or...really...gotta do primer? Thanks for suggestions!

i just interviewed with a company and they called me back offering me a job. but now another company that i interviwed with a few months ago called me back to talk to me about a position that they said i would be perfect for. what should i tell the first company? i haven't gotten a job offer from the second company yet, just a second interview, but if i did, i would rather go with them. but if i end up not getting the position with the second company, i would like to stay with the first company. so what do i do? keep the first company waiting until i get a job offer from the second company? take the job offer from the first company and if i don't get the job from the second company, still at least have a job? i'm thinking of telling the first company that i'm comparing job offers from different employers. is that appropriate? if so, what's the longest amount of time that would be appropriate to get back to an employer with a yes/no answer? i have an interview with the second company on wednesday. i need a job right now. if the second company never contacted me, i wouldn't be in this dilema. i would definitely choose the second company for my long-term career choice.

  13. Resolved Question: Doesn't this grind your balls?
  14. 16 Feb 2008 at 7:57pm
It really chaps my sphincter that when you're applying for a job, they want every piece of information about you, many times including your SSN, full employment history, addresses and phone numbers of references and more--all BEFORE you even get an interview. Why can't they obtain the specifics AFTER the interview? I just obtained my B.S. degree and often have invested 5+ hours tweaking my cover letter and filling out applications just for one position, then driving 7 hours in a blizzard for an interview....only to end up not getting the job. I think that is inexcusable and I should be compensated. I feel like qualified workers are being abused and treated like clowns for corporate entertainment because there is a surplus of them and such a shortage of jobs right now. P.S. I live in Michigan, so don't tell me to look at economic indicators and argue that there are tons of jobs. This is MI. We in the gutta fo' sho'. Not so much a question, more of a rant but I'm curious if anyone feels the same or if I'm being petty. OK Jose G, not everyone is an illegal immigrant that can get a construction job with no education. Don't be mad because I am intelligent. I thought maybe someone shared in my frustration in the job market. Apparently you all share in your sexual frustrations only. I hope you all lose your fast food jobs to f*ing Jerry's kids. Losers.

  16. 16 Feb 2008 at 7:37pm
If you are invited to an academic setting to give a job interview, what should the oral presentation part of the interview be on? -a sample lecture for the class you know they want you to teach if you are hired? -a presentation on your dissertation research? -a bio of who you are and why you are the best for this position? Help! What are professors, etc. looking for when they ask a job candidate (for a part time professor position) to do a 20 minute oral presentation before engaging them in the remaining 2 hour formal interview?

  17. Resolved Question: How does my boyfriend sell his house with no money and wha...
  18. 16 Feb 2008 at 7:23pm
I am dating a guy who is in a tough real estate situation with his family. His parents convinced him (before he met me) to buy a house near them. That was a year a half ago. He has since been laid-off from his job, has gone back to school to get a masters degree, and graduates in a few months. He paid the mortgage for awhile, but his parents have been paying it in the meantime while he is in school. I do not want to live in this house since I live in a different state, nor will I marry him as long he has this mortgage in his name. I have made these points abundantly clear to him. He is supportive of my position, but here is the problem: His parents are vehemently against him selling the house because they do not want him to move where I live, and he will not have any real money to get the house fixed up for sale until he gets a job. The house was a ?fixer upper? to begin with. I have made it clear that I am not paying a dime. What do you suggest he do? Thanks everyone for the feedback. He does have the house in his name. As additional clarification, I am not under any pressure from him to spend money on the house. The pressure is coming from his family. He wants to sell the house because he is beginning to realize that his family is going to attach some major strings to the house. His family is a master at guilt trips. This is not a gift from his family but manipulation.

  21. Resolved Question: Vet Tech Assistant Interview?
  22. 16 Feb 2008 at 6:02pm
I have a few questions.... 1. I applied for the position on November 29, 2007 but just got called for an interview on February 12, 2008. Why is this and do you think maybe I have a higher chance at getting the job since it took so long? 2. About what is the pay? I live in Georgia. 3. I only have a month experience of working at PetSmart but I own 5 dogs and 2 cats. I'm an avid animal lover and have a bad habit of taking in any stray nursing it to health and finding it a good home. LOL What skills should I stress in my interview? 4. I know Vet Tech Assistants wear scrubs, but what should I wear to the interview? It's at a military base vet, I'm not military but my grandfather is a 30-year veteran and he's my gaurdian. Thanks in advance! :)

I went in and took a series of tests on the computer for typing, math, spelling, filing. They asked me a few questsions and I was told they would fax over my resume to the job opening I was interested in and call me if the employer was interested. Is this how all employment agencies work?

  25. Voting Question: Is It Me, Or Is There Something Wrong Here?
  26. 16 Feb 2008 at 4:18pm
OMG now it appears congress is getting involved in the ?Clemens Circus Comes to Congress? with the Barry Bonds side show steroid mess. I mean HUH!, what did he say? MY QUESTION IS WHY! I?m only 21 and even to my little high school educated warped mind It appears congress has much to much time on there hands. So the guy used steroids. So what, ban him from the game and anyone else that used them, my god ppls they ban Pet Rose for life for betting, I mean betting and thus from the Hall Of Fame where he belongs, now it would seem steroids are little more serious yes I?ll admit but to the point we need congress involved. The present commissioner apparently can?t do his job,( another one making good money that hasn?t a clue) or has no balls. It seems he apparently has a friend in congress to save his *** from making an unpopular decision, but then that seems to be the way of the well paid, ?it?s no my job man, not me, I didn?t do it? syndrome that they think there entitled to. Now lets see if I have this right! the poor are getting to be the destitute, the middle class (haha) are getting to be the poor, while the rich are getting richer. The government bought trailers that can?t be lived in. Our troops are getting killed in places we don?t belong, ppls still don?t have homes or jobs in Louisiana. Ppls are loosing there homes because of congress inability to do what were paying them for, the cost of fuel and home heating oil, food costs, and now someone wants to spend 43 BILLON to get yahoo, come on, get real, 43 billon that raises all kinds of questions and think that bothers congress, course not, I mean so what millions of ppls will be affected. BUT it seems it?s ok to get into something that in the end is not even going have ANY difference at all on sports or anything else for that matter when there thru wasting our money, time and not to even mention (god for bid) doing what were paying them for. Nothing will change except Bush will pardon Clemens, well so Reuter?s thinks. I mean what signal does that send to kids. The same one there sending to us, the adults with it seems there ?we don?t care? about you, it?s about us and how much of your hard earned money we can waste? on stupid stuff while making total fools of out self?s. Oil company have record profits by charging outlandish prices and ?that?s ok?, why? I could guess but best stop where I am except to say I think congress has a clue, but there not giving it up. Now don?t get it wrong, this is the best country in the world, the best system on earth, so I?m not moving, don?t go telling me to. Am I bitching, well ya I am, but that?s what?s good about AMERICA, I can. Clinton, McCain, Obama or whoever! Does it really make a difference, I think not unless someone ( hopefully one of them) gets congress back to doing what there suppose to do, wasting our money but with some results that benefit the whole country not just the wealthy and over paid or there over inflated ego?s. Somehow I don?t see that happening, the president has become not much more that a ?person in the position? much like the Queen, (Ok I?m being smart ***) but I mean why spend millions trying to get into that ?job? why not hire someone with a four year contract and use all the money ( that no one seems to have but the rich) to help ppls that need help, like home heating cost, the elderly, home tax relief ??? I don?t get it, the American way? Seems were getting little lost. Maybe it?s time some of them just GOT out. I mean at what point does someone ego ( in this case congressmen) not get in the way of common sense. Is someone?s ego that big they feel the have to die in office? God I mean it sure appears were paying them ( and good money) to screw us as much and as often as they can. Oh wait, what?s this you tell me there suppose to? Silly me for thinking other wise. Yes before you throw all kinds of insults and ?what are you nuts? at me, it took me while to do this ( thank god for spell check) and NO I?m not moving to some third world country, I like it here, want to stay, I am staying here and YES before you ask, I do think I could do a better job than most of them ( meaning congress) and for lot less money. ( my ego taking over how) Am I mad, no, Am I confused, well ya How does that saying go ?ever vote counts? I hope so!!!! So again the QUESTION IS WHY????, Someone needs to explain this one to me..!!! and in simple words, remember I only have a high school education.

  27. Resolved Question: interesting interviews?
  28. 16 Feb 2008 at 3:14pm
what are some general things you ask about? for example, my parents wanted to hire someone for a company position, and they used me (actually it was my idea). I pretended that I was also applying for the job and asked her random questions to see what she's like. i found out that she was impatient, dull, and bad-tempered. Did you encounter any or do any interesting things during an interview?

  29. Resolved Question: New job due to transfer?
  30. 16 Feb 2008 at 1:34pm
Back in January, I was transferred to a new position within my company. At present, my job is to close out various old studies and help my supervisor understand the procedures I followed prior to my transfer (weird I know). My new job actually lies within an area that the CEO has been very enthusiastic about so am not worried about being transferred to oblivion. I will also have help as the VP of our group seems to be taking me under his wing. Basically, I am being given a general issue and given the opportunity to figure out a way to solve it. Previously, I was given very specific projects and given the methodology to solve the issues. Am curious about any pitfalls as I take this on. I will also have the opportunity to interview my incoming supervisor. Has anyone ever done this? I have interviewed people before but never my own supervisor. To the HR people out there, is there anything I should really be on the lookout for. Thanks a ton for the help.

  33. Resolved Question: Please I need tips and pointers?
  34. 16 Feb 2008 at 12:02pm
So I have my forth interview coming up with the number one medical organization in west Michigan for a Registration Specialist position. The last three interviews I had went really well. My aunt works for the organization I am interviewing for and the last three people I interviewed with told her they like me a lot and I did really good at the interview process. And even though I did good then I am really nervous about this one because this interview determines if I get the job or not and this is a big job, so if someone can give me tip's and let me know the dos and donts I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Without going through the whole story. I am now being told instead of going home when my shift is over, I have to wait until the next person arrives - even if their late. No matter how late they are. Their shift is an 12 hour shift. So in reality if no one shows up I have to be there all night. What do I do? Can my superiors even do that? Make me stay for a shift that's not even mines?

  37. Resolved Question: When applying for a job...?
  38. 16 Feb 2008 at 11:01am
and the question says 'Please state briefly why you have applied for this position: __________' what would be a good and acceptable way to phrase something as simple as 'looking for extra cash'? I don't want to make it sound like that, and I am a very respectable and responsible person. However, the part time job I have now isn't paying enough and I need to add a 2nd job to help me through college. Thanks for any advice you may have!

  40. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:37am
I'd like to work in an office, either as an administrative assistant or clerk, but can't even get in at the bottom. I'd like to work my way into an office manager position possibly. I have never worked in an office before, but it doesn't seem very hard. I'm educated, am capable on the computer, and can type pretty fast. All my background work is in retail. Any suggestions. I really need to get into a field where there's a little more money. I have been a failure in retail, it's definitly not my forte. What makes this type of job challenging? I've always thought I'd be capable of being an office employee, but maybe I have a false idea of what it takes. Maybe that's why I'm not getting a job, it takes more skills than I think??? I have an MBA OK, I guess you guys are right, office work is probably going to be too hard for me. I probably have the wrong idea of what it is. I need to start re-thinking my career and go for something easier that I might qualify for. I just don't know what. I thought an administrative assistant position would be a good place to start, but I obviously had the wrong idea about what it entails. What do you guys suggest as a career path since office is probably not a good idea for me. Salary drop!? I can't do that. I only make $8/hour.

  45. Resolved Question: Was there some sort of (presumably unintentional) sabotage...
  46. 16 Feb 2008 at 3:02am
Perhaps someone was barred from being involved and thought "If I'm being booted off the job, I'll take some people with me", and doctored the plans. Were the people charged with finalizing the system in the position of saying "The integration can't proceed without a plan. We're sure there is a plan. We just don't know what it is". Surely a credible plan would be dated circa 1986. So if we find later plans floating around, are they bogus, and designed to mislead ? To Mac, Thanks. Better answerers in Philosophy. "An irrevocable decree overcame them all so that they passed away and the people came to be as though they had never existed." (lament for seville, 1267)

  48. 16 Feb 2008 at 2:00am
Im in my second pregnancy and I am eight months. i know the baby is very low, because when I place my hand in the low triangle area near my legs, I can feel the baby move even down there. The problem is though my job requires me to sit, and if I sit 20 minutes or longer i get really bad pains, I will say about two inches below my belly button, that area, it really hurts when i get up to stand and have to move. I wonder also because the baby is low am I hurting the baby, I know this sound crazy, but could i be bending the baby head or body?!? the only way that s comfortable to sit is in a sloch position, with my bottom on the edge of the chair, and my back resting on the back of the chair, but this is bad support on my back....what should I do, why could i be getting this pain?

  49. Resolved Question: For all you Public Defenders...what is your open case load?
  50. 16 Feb 2008 at 1:10am
I am a Public Defender with 5 years experience practicing in Northern California. I am a line-deputy and have been in felonies for about a year now and would like to know what you typical open (pre-plea/pre-VOP) load is. This question is not an invitation for people to complain about Dump Trucks, Public Pretenders, etc. If you really think that I cannot get a job somewhere else perhaps you should consider that I beat out 200 people for my job and left a significantly higher paying position to take this one.

  57. Voting Question: Job employment?
  58. 15 Feb 2008 at 7:24pm
I had an entry level position interview at Fry's Electronics on Tuesday and it was sorta a group interview. Six or seven people were there including me. They had us fill out a three-page questionaire packet. Then this lady went around and asked us questions individually. One guy left b/c he had another interview to go to. Only two people---me and this other guy, a little old than me---got to stay to do drug tests. And I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who had a third interview that day with the main manager in his office. Anyway everything went smoothly, they said they'd call me Friday (today) after the drug test was taken. I took it Wednesday morning (had to be taken 24 hrs after 4pm on Tuesday). They haven't called me back yet. They said to take it Tuesday, then they'd call Friday...so maybe b/c I took it Wed. it'll take an extra day for them to call? Or should I call them?

I was thinking about taking a position offered to me in Opelika, Al. The pay starts off around $14.00 an hour. The job allows for a person to only work 10 hr. shifts 4 days a week. I like this as well. I was just hoping someone could elaborate on the up and downsides of working there. If I take the position, I will be an order puller.

Is a GD possible after 2 ..1-1 interviews? I was also told the other managers will see me and decide? My question is I am nervous abt group discussion. 63. Resolved Question: UPS Package Handler Background Work History Question?
  64. 15 Feb 2008 at 6:42pm
I am thinking about applying for a UPS package handler position. I used to be a Fedex Package handler and I was there for about 4 months. It paid $12/hr, but I didn't like it because they only gave us one hour a day of work. So I gave them my two weeks notice, but something came up and so I had to stop showing up just two days after I put in my two weeks notice. Then for one year after that I just did under the table work. Then the year after that I went back to school, while continuing to do some under the table work here and there. I'd really like to have a steady legitimate job again, and this UPS job would work well with my current school schedule. My question is will UPS check my work history and if so, are they going to mind my sketchy work history for this job? Will they frown upon my premature departure of Fedex and should I even mention Fedex in my application? Finally, what is the best way you'd recommend for me to approach this job opportunity considering my work history?

  68. 15 Feb 2008 at 6:04pm
I recently scheduled an interview for a position with a fortune 500 company. The interview was originally reschedule once by the company. I showed up to the rescheduled interview, a few minutes early, and found out the Manager who was going to conduct the interview, was not going to be able to make it. I was asked to fill out the application, and take an assessment test by one of the office personal, while I waited for him, but he was a no show. I was told I would get a call from the Manager within the next day. I never heard back from the company. My Question is... Do I have any legal rights, because I took my time from my existing job, and drove nearly 30 miles for this interview. I believe it to be wrong to schedule an interview, and take an application, and not to bother to show up, but is that an Illegal Practice?

I know this is premature and looking way ahead, but I am so far very confident in myself and my chances of passing RIP, but that aside, I was wondering, after RIP, if my MOS(Combat Medic 68W) has a couple of openings in different battalions, can I and another Ranger agree to swap wach others positions? I know it can be done I read that a lot of times about other Jobs, but I dont know if its the same or not with the Rangers, im guessing it is though...for example Id rather be in the 2nd Batt. over the 1st or 3rd?

U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo on Thursday accused Calderon of meddling in U.S. affairs, telling him he should focus on his country's problems instead of "encouraging illegal immigration." In a letter to the Mexican Embassy, the Colorado Republican criticized Calderon for telling the California Legislature Wednesday that Mexico and the United States "will never find prosperity by closing their doors." "Unfortunately, your recent comments indicate that Mexico will continue its policy of encouraging illegal immigration and treating the United States as little more than a dumping ground for your social and economic problems," Tancredo said, adding, "It is no secret that the purpose of your visit is to influence the American election." Tancredo ran on a strong anti-illegal immigration platform before abandoning his long-shot campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, saying he accomplished his goal of making other Republican candidates stand tougher on the issue. Calderon arrived Sunday with a plan to make his voice heard in major U.S. cities at a time when both Republican and Democratic candidates are carefully calibrating their positions on hot-button issues such as the border wall, deportations, guest-worker programs and driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. Calderon has 66 percent job approval according to a poll in late January, and ministering to the 11 million Mexicans living in the United States helps maintain his popularity at home. The Mexican president also made stops in New York, Massachusetts and Chicago. http://www.dailynews.com/breakingnews/ci_8263526

  75. Resolved Question: Does person who has a learning disability qualiffy for SSI?
  76. 15 Feb 2008 at 3:58pm
I have a learning disability along with a very mild case of cerbal pulsy. Currently I hold a BA degree in Radio/Television with a minor in Marketing. I graduated almost 4 years ago. All I do all day is sit home and do nothing. I would rather be working like everybody else out there. I go to 5 interviews a week and don't get hired. The jobs I have applied for are customer service, clerical, management traine and administrative assistant positions. Everytime I go to a temp. agency they give me the brushoff. Employers fire me once they see me walk funny, talk mumbly and have funny eye movements. I have gone to my state department of rehabilitation and they have done nothing for me. I'm very lucky that I drive a Can I apply to collect SSI? At age 26 my parents are fed up supporting me and want me to move out of the house. The area I where I currently live there is no subsidized housing and studio apartments rent our for $1,000 per month. Rooms in peoples home rent for $800 per month. I very lucky that I drive a car like everybody else. I live in the greater Los Angeles area. I'm the type of person who could go to a party or bar and not talk to anyone. People would just stay away from me. Every day I'm getting more and more depressed not working. My parents can't support me forever. If I tell an employer about my problem prior they right away tell me that the position is filled. Even thoug I have thouhgt about going back to college I'm not going to go back to school. College wasn't for me. I don't see myself in graduate school. Two weeks ago I started working at Macys department store. They only give me 10-15 hours per week. I asked my manager if they would give me 35 hours and they said no. They only pay me $8 per hour. I have tried many call centers. After interviewing with them they don't hire me. There isn't any disability job placement agencies near me. Another porblem of mine is that it takes me longer than other people to learn things. Once I learn something I have learned it. Employers don't have the time for this. Anther question is would I have to hide my money in my CD accounts to apply? Another thing I do is smile, laugh and gigle when I'm nervous and people wonder abouy me when I do that. Socially I'm not that great. I don't have many friends. I don't have a girlfriend for this reason.

  79. Resolved Question: Do I legally have to work my 2 weeks notice (after 5 months)?
  80. 15 Feb 2008 at 3:45pm
I've been working in a shop for nearly 6 months now. Yesterday I was headhunted, today I had an interview and now I have a new job. They want me to start on monday. This new city job pays FIFTEEN THOUSAND pounds more than my current position. Me getting the job was dependent on starting monday, and my agent told me that it was my current employers problem not mine and i needed to put myself first. This doesn't come naturally but I know i'll lose the job if i stay for my 2 weeks notice. I'm in work tomorrow and need to say it's my last day. How? And can I legally just quit with a days notice? We're really short staffed and I feel so guilty about this. I'll offer to work weekends, evenings if that helps till they get someone else. Thanks! I'm in the UK, thanks for answers so far :) I'm in the UK. It's a sales job and they like hard, money motivated people. So if I risk a job offer to help out employers they'll see it as a weakness :(

  88. 15 Feb 2008 at 2:23pm
My boyfriend went to apply for a job at a security company in which he would be refilling ATM machines. He was interviewed on the spot and the lady read a questionnaire and asked if he was married/divorced/engaged/had a girlfriend. When he said that yes, he had a girlfriend, she asked him my name, phone number and how long we'd been together. She continued to ask him some other questions about drugs/alcohol/his tattoos and if he'd be willing to take a lie detector test. I can understand the other questions, but why would she need to know anything about me? He said she was like 60 years old so there's no way she was interested in him or anything and he thought they might ask those questions just to see how he responds and if he tells the truth or something. Still, I'm a little creeped out that a place of employment "needs" to know that about someone. Anyone have any ideas why this would be or is it simply because of the trust they'd need to have in him for the position?

  93. Resolved Question: What's a good word to use?
  94. 15 Feb 2008 at 11:45am
I'm filling out an online job application, and it asks for the number of years of direct work experience of which I have none, but I believe my skills and experience will transfer nicely to the position. What's a positive way to answer this question? I was thinking of writing in some, or limited, but they sound rather negative.

  95. Resolved Question: my job offer was rescinded....can I sue?
  96. 15 Feb 2008 at 11:33am
I was offered a position signed the acknowledgement letter....worked for 21/2 weeks then HR came and rescinded the offer due to the fact that my previous employer did not send verification of employment in writting but gave it to HR verbally. i also provided HR with 1099's and W2's proving that i worked there the amount of time i had stated.

  97. Resolved Question: Payroll overpayment question?
  98. 15 Feb 2008 at 11:30am
My husband has recently been informed by his former employer that he was overpaid 9 months ago when he left the job. He put in his two weeks at his job and they immediately let him go, which is normal in his line of work. After he left he received one paycheck for time worked, one paycheck for what we thought was for the two weeks he was not paid because they let him go, and a bonus check with regular pay which we knew was a mistake. The third paycheck with bonus was withdrawn from our account. He has been in his new position for 9 months. This week he was notified by his previous employer that the 2nd paycheck was a mistake and they want the money back in one week or they will pursue legal action. We of course don't have that much money as we are struggling to make it as is, we are willing to work with them if the money was not truly owed to us, we are still working with our records and their to verify. My question is can they take legal action so quickly? We live in Ohio We were surprised that they had not informed us before now, as they have our phone number and mailing address. He was finally called by his old boss to notify him, because the payroll department called him (the boss) instead of calling us directly If you have money directly deposited into your account from an employer they have the right to take the money out if there is an overpayment or a mistake. lovehope we were not aware that we owed the money, the last paycheck paid we knew was not ours and we were happy to return it. The second paycheck was what we believed was for the time he had given notice for but was let go any way. If we had known we had owed the money we would have already made plans to repay it. Please do not assume we were trying to keep money that was not ours on purpose! There are still honest people in this world! The last paycheck was withdrawn almost immediately after WE called them and reported the error! I'm a witch- can you back that up with laws or a website that gives labor/payment law?

  99. Resolved Question: Leading from the second chair?
  100. 15 Feb 2008 at 11:01am
I'm in a position right now where I am one of the people who have been given responsibility. I have 25 people under me, but now I have a situation with my own boss where she wants me to just be a conduit for what she says. Some of her plans are very good, others are not. The bigger problem is that she does not give me enough information to work with, and only gives me information at the time she wants it related, when I know that there is more that has been decided that can help me better lead. I feel that I'm being treated as if my position is no higher than those I'm leading now, and when I try to approach her with any questions regarding upcoming changes, I am met with extreme defensiveness. She's the head of the company, and I'm not sure how to take it from here. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can be supportive to her, and still actually do my job? Don't be afraid to be spammy if you want.< >
