I have the recording of the Discovery Channel show, just tell me where to send it or look it up on your computer before you accuse others of not being factual. 5. Resolved Question: Is this a good essay and 1st paragraph and thesis?
  6. 17 Feb 2008 at 12:34am
The education of a human being begins at birth and continues throughout his or her life. Since the early 1980's, North America has been "behind" Japan, Taiwan, and China in the subjects of math and science. As a result, America's competence in mathematics, science, and technology is at great risk. We should have math, science, and reading homework beginning in kindergarten because children need to face challenges at an early age. Our expectations for our children should be much higher(Bempechat 501). . According to statistics, the North American education system lacks a firm background in mathematics and science, thus school systems in these areas should challenge students to a higher degree. For a high school student, self esteem is essential.

  7. Resolved Question: Butcher...?
  8. 16 Feb 2008 at 11:01pm
A butcher just out of trade school, applies for and gets, a job in North- West America, skinning and cutting up the kills of local hunters. The first job he gets is to cut up a moose to put in the freezer. He finally gets the moose cut up and is putting it into bags and marking them with the contents - chops, rump steak, ribs, sirloin, etc. When he finishes with the stuff he knows, he is left with a pile of unidentifiable parts. At a loss as to what to do with them, he finally puts them all into one bag and labels them......moosellanious.

  10. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:27pm
In Montreal two years ago, A school shooting occurred, since then there have been several shootings in schools across North America and the world. Why, are people going into schools and killing kids? What can we do to stop this? Would banning hand guns stop this or at least make it a lot more difficult to purchase a hand gun? In Illinois , a couple days ago there was a school shooting, records show, the student had purchased the guns recently.

  16. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:00pm
People like "travolta" NEVER know what they are talking about and continually make fools of themselves THINKING they know, when they don't know a damned thing!! Due to the invasion of northern transplants into Florida, we no longer consider Florida to be a southern state. "travolta Stinks" - You have every right to feel the way you want to. If you don't like Texas, why don't you move to New Jersey or somewhere like that. Just be fair, that's all i'm asking for.

  17. Resolved Question: do you think the united states should be un-united?
  18. 16 Feb 2008 at 9:21pm
like disband it would be easier eg. i hate america for all its involvement in wars everywhere and in the past, its pollution and general ignorance for anyone else if they disbanded it would be easier i'd make less enemies and america would save lives because their enemies would only attack the bad states OR maybe america could split again the North pull out of Iraq and I'd respect them and the South stay and be all ,,GRAAAGH!!! OIL!!!! HARDSHIP FOR ANYONE ELSE!!!!'' then that would be fairer *below this point is a rant* because instead of me going ,,oh i hate america'' i could just go ,,i hate texas/the South'' would'nt that be better?

  19. Resolved Question: Can a nuclear holocaust cause the end of the world?
  20. 16 Feb 2008 at 9:12pm
if so then how? I always hear about nukes causeing the end of the world, how is it that EVERY country would get nuked? i can see about the main countries like USA, Russia, Europe, Middle east, China, South or North Korea, but what about Africa, South america, Australia, and all the nuetral countries? they make nukes sound all scary, like one could totally destroy a continent, or can they now? but if they can, then i still don't see how the Entire earth would be destroyed. i'm sure there would be survivors in bomb shelters, and people on islands that don't get hit. what can totally destroy the earth? meteor? well if it hits one side of the planet, then what about the other side? and people in bomb shelters?

  21. Resolved Question: How can I help my long distance relationsip work?
  22. 16 Feb 2008 at 8:54pm
My boy friend and I have been dating for about one year. only the first few months we were in the same place then he moved to south Asia to work and i came to north America to study. we have been through lots of up and downs: really good for a while and then somehow disconnected and the same loop again...lately he has been grumbling a lot that the distance is really hurting him and he just doesn't feel to be deeply involved though he has had the best with me and it would work unless it wasn't long distance! he kept insisting to break up for a while to think more and wait to see whether he can get an admission to come here but i know it's so improbable. i have been trying so hard to convince him this will work and just needs some more effort and patience. every one says its better to give it up. but... i don't want to. i just love him and believe it is worth trying...now we have no contact due to his decision and i am so desperate and don't know what to do...

  39. Resolved Question: Chose wise between Hilary and Obama?
  40. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:06am
The current real issues america face will not be solved by the "hope" speeches of Obama. Infact, this guy couldnt even change his speeches last 6 months. In debates, u saw him blabering with out substance answers. Clinton may not be a perfect candidate, but this time, dont look on the charm of speeches, but look on a powerful political center which has the power to command to the world so that US will be able to fix it's problems. If Obama engage in a deal with China or India, they dont even listern. But remembe the Clinton time where they were listening to US. We need that back. Bush tried to get the nuclear deal with India. They didnt agree with US. Anybody remeber the insident of Hamas terrorist got landed in Muscat instead of Saudi Arabia because Clinton made a call to Saudi? We need that power of US president back. Hilary is popular arond the world and no one knows who Obama is. Ahemdinajad and North Koreans will laugh at him and will never care for US if Obama wins. Obama is not qualified to be a president and as someone wrote, US presidency is not for chance. bcoz u r giving the futue of a country to chance

  43. Resolved Question: Should Kosova be returned to Turkey?
  44. 16 Feb 2008 at 8:08am
Tommorow after 600 years of ocupation Kosova is to declare independence. But Serbia is complaning that this is illegal under international law (a country can't be taken from another) and that Kosova belongs to her. Well, I agree international law is important. So shouldn't Kosova be returned to Turkey because Kosova belonged to Turkey until 1913, when it was illegally stolen and given to Serbia. Whilst we are at it...Shouldn't Serbia also be given back to Turkey as it was part of the Otoman empire until an illegal terrorist uprising stole Serbia. Shouldn't USA and India be given back to the British? Shouldn't Latin America be given back to the Spanish? Shouldn't North Africa be given back to the French? Should we reinstall the Roman empire. Or should we follow democratic law and allow the people living in that country chose where they want to live, and not imperialism RROFT KOSOVA!! eeeeee goxy. i thought kosova was your heartland. that is always serbian bla bla bla. and just now you are prepared to give it away so easily to the turks. i thought i'll never see the day:-) he he ps. You are aways on yahoo answers? Do you have a life? I feel sorry you. Now Kosova is independent what are you to do? You must find another hobby to fill up your lonely days other than Serbian propaganda on yahoo answers. btw the it's nice to hear from my bosnian serb 'friend' Sestro: you've been busy collecting points all week lol lol lol. Goodwork!! Now you have even more thumbs in your 'war' for Serbia. When all your answers get 10 thumbs each, you get a magic wish, and Japan returns to Serbian rule :p lol again

  48. 16 Feb 2008 at 2:08am
Also, why do they ask questions that are in next week's reading, or simply not answered directly in the book? I took an online quiz tonight and we've only read up to chapter 4, but I had to find the answer in chapter 6. Additionally, one of the questions is just blatantly wrong. I've had a teacher tell me that Greenland is not a part of North America! re: Canadian Bacon, as per worldatlas.com, yes it is controlled by Denmark, but geographically, it is considered a part of the North American continent. http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/namerica/gl.htm Sorry, I meant that I was told Greenland was not geographically a part of North America. And yes, I do have a full time job and am a college graduate - I am taking this college class to learn more about a particular topic.

This is the channel where Australian Rules Football is supposed to be broadcasted in the USA. Have you heard of it? Is it only available on direct TV? Is it due to be made available on Cox cable, for instance? Has anybody watched this channel and seen Australian Football on it? Thanks for any assistance. BTW, here in America, we are going on our third season without footy since it was dropped by Fox Sports (Soccer) World after the 2005 GF. I am tired of no footy, so a way to watch is desired by myself and footy followers in the USA is needed. Setanta has yet to prove that it exists.

  65. Resolved Question: 2008 Hall of Fame class, who gets in and who doesn't?
  66. 15 Feb 2008 at 1:56pm
NORTH AMERICAN COMMITTEE FINALISTS VICTOR BUBAS - Contributor (Finalist in 2003), the 1996 recipient of the prestigious John Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award, began a lifelong love affair with basketball in his hometown of Gary, Indiana before attending North Carolina State University where he played for, and coached alongside, Hall of Famer Everett Case. As a player, Bubas helped NC State reach the NCAA Final Four in 1950. His strong work ethic and vision helped put Duke on the national map in basketball and made Bubas the second winningest coach in the 1960s behind Hall of Famer John Wooden. As the Commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference from 1976-1990, Bubas played a key role in the NCAA's adoption of the both the three-point line and the 45-second shot clock. ADRIAN DANTLEY - Player (Finalist in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007), a native of Washington, D.C., was one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. He had a stellar 15-year NBA career with seven different teams (Buffalo Braves, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, Dallas Maverick and Milwaukee Bucks), the majority of the time spent with the Jazz (1979-86). At all levels, Dantley enjoyed success - as a scholastic All-America player at DeMatha Catholic High School (Md.), as a collegian at Notre Dame (1973-76), as the leading scorer (19.3 ppg) of the gold medal 1976 Olympic team and as a professional where he was Rookie of the Year in 1977. His 23,177 career points still ranks 23rd all-time in the NBA. He scored 2,223 points in three seasons (25.8) at Notre Dame, ranks second in Irish career scoring and was a unanimous First Team All-America list in 1975 and 1976. In all but four seasons as a professional, Dantley averaged 20 points or better, including topping the 30-point mark four straight years (1981-84). The six-time NBA All-Star (1980-82, 1984-86) was named NBA Comeback Player of the Year in 1984, the year he led the league in scoring (30.6). WILLIAM (Bill) DAVIDSON - Contributor (Finalist in 2007), 85, is a lifelong Michigan resident born in Detroit, where he has created both NBA and WNBA dynasties. An owner of the Pistons since 1974 and the WNBA Shock since 1998, Davidson's Pistons have captured three NBA crowns to go along with two WNBA titles for the Shock. Davidson has served as Chairman of the NBA Board of Governors, and has been an innovative business leader in the sports industry - building the revolutionary Palace of Auburn Hills, playing an integral role in structuring modern NBA salary cap and free agency standards, and even owning the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning and capturing a Stanley Cup. His Pistons have featured several Hall of Famers, including Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Chuck Daly and Larry Brown. A member of three NBA championship teams, Johnson led the Seattle Supersonics to the 1979 NBA title and was named Finals Most Valuable Player. He led the Golden State Warriors to a 4-2 game upset of the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs, the first time a #8 seed defeated a #1 seed in a seven-game series. In 1996, Nelson was named to the NBA's Ten Best Coaches of All-Time list and has served his country as the head coach of the 1994 U.S. men's national team that won the gold medal at the World Championships. A two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Olajuwon still holds the NBA record for blocked shots (3,830) and is the only player to record more than 3,000 blocked shots and 2,000 steals in a career. Olajuwon was also a five-time member of the NBA All-Defensive First Team, a six-time All-NBA First Team performer, and the 1994 NBA MVP. He recorded 26,946 points and 13,748 rebounds in 18 NBA seasons, good for ninth and fourteenth respectively on the all-time NBA leader board. PAT RILEY - Coach, has experienced success at all levels and in all realms of the game. A player on the 1966 University of Kentucky Final Four team, Riley has left his biggest mark on the game in coaching. Rush won 149 games in only seven season and lost only 15, good for a .908 winning percentage. I am a dreamer, and I want to eventually travel the world and I want some information. What would you say are must go and no go areas? Who should I book it with? At the moment, my plan is graduate uni and get all of my qualification. Then work and save enough money and then set off at the age 23 with my University friends and some high school. I have been looking at some websites and they list places that their tickets includes e.g. http://www.travel-nation.co.uk/roundtheworld/route_planner.php?month=-02-&class=econo my&asia_and_mideast=yes&africa=no&north_america=yes&australasia_and_pacific=yes&south _america=yes But! How long can I stay in each country? Also, I will obvisouly need to be able to stay somewhere so how much should I add on for accomadation etc.

  71. Resolved Question: If we do let God in our schools will there be less shootings?
  72. 15 Feb 2008 at 12:01pm
Or will they be more? If the government makes special dispensation for the christian God in north america--brings in all that love and joy--not knocking moslems--just using as an example--would this not set the precedent for the moslems to say--you made special dispensation for the christian god in our schools--therefore special dispensation is possible--therefore we'd like to try crimes against islam under sharia law--could you imagine someone getting off a crime like NIU because they were defending Allahs name? Doesn't keeping god out of our schools really protect all relgions. If we started making religious dispensations I shudder to think of the chaos this country would be drawn into.

  79. Resolved Question: Can I feed my platy fry freeze dried brime shrimp?
  80. 15 Feb 2008 at 4:05am
I live outside of North America, and where I'm living right now I don't have easy access to baby brine shrimp. I bought the Hikari brand freeze-dried brine shrimp though, and I squish it between my fingers so that they're powdery and I feed them to my platy fry. Is that good enough, or do I still need to feed live foods? I also feed them TetraMin baby. My fry are a week old and have grown visibly, but I don't know if they're on target or not.

  91. Resolved Question: Deadly Computer Virus?
  92. 14 Feb 2008 at 5:11pm
Adam and Eve virus: Takes a couple of bytes out of your Apple. Airline virus: You're in Dallas, but your data is in Singapore. Anita Hill virus: Lies dormant for ten years. Arnold Schwarzenegger virus: Terminates and stays resident. It'll be back. AT&T virus: Every three minutes it tells you what great service you are getting. The MCI virus: Every three minutes it reminds you that you're paying too much for the AT&T virus. Bill Clinton virus: This virus mutates from region to region and we're not exactly sure what it does. Bill Clinton virus: Promises to give equal time to all processes: 50% to poor, slow processes; 50% to middle-class processes, and 50% to rich ones. This virus protests your computer's involvement in other computer's affairs, even though it has been having one of its own for 12 years. Congressional Virus: Overdraws your computer. Congressional Virus: The computer locks up, screen splits erratically with a message appearing on each half blaming the other side for the problem. Dan Quayle virus: Prevents your system from spawning any child processes without joining into a binary network. Dan Quayle virus: Simplye addse ane ee toe everye worde youe typee.. David Duke virus: Makes your screen go completely white. Elvis virus: Your computer gets fat, slow, and lazy and then self destructs, only to resurface at shopping malls and service stations across rural America. Federal bureaucrat virus: Divides your hard disk into hundreds of little units, each of which do practically nothing, but all of which claim to be the most important part of the computer. Freudian virus: Your computer becomes obsessed with marrying its own motherboard. Gallup virus: Sixty percent of the PCs infected will lose 38 percent of their data 14 percent of the time (plus or minus a 3.5 percent margin of error). George Bush virus: Doesn't do anything, but you can't get rid of it until November. Government economist virus: Nothing works, but all your diagnostic software says everything is fine. Jerry Brown virus: Blanks your screen and begins flashing an 800 number. Madonna virus: If your computer gets this virus, lock up your dog! Mario Cuomo virus: It would be a great virus, but it refuses to run. Michael Jackson virus: Hard to identify because it is constantly altering its appearance. This virus won't harm your PC, but it will trash your car. New World Order virus: probably harmless, but it makes a lot of people really mad just thinking about it. Nike virus: Just Does It! Ollie North virus: Turns your printer into a document shredder. Oprah Winfrey virus: Your 200MB hard drive suddenly shrinks to 80MB, and then slowly expands back to 200MB. Pat Buchanan virus: Shifts all your output to the extreme right of your screen. Paul Revere virus: This revolutionary virus does not horse around. It warns you of impending hard disk attack---once if by LAN, twice if by C:. Paul Tsongas virus: Pops up on December 25 and says, "I'm not Santa Claus." PBS virus: Your PC stops every few minutes to ask for money. Politically correct virus: Never calls itself a "virus", but instead refers to itself as an "electronic microorganism". Richard Nixon virus: Also known as the "Tricky Dick Virus", you can wipe it out but it always makes a comeback. Right To Life virus: Won't allow you to delete a file, regardless of how old it is. If you attempt to erase a file, it requires you to first see a counselor about possible alternatives. Ross Perot virus: Activates every component in your system, just before the whole thing quits. Ted Kennedy virus: Crashes your computer but denies it ever happened. Ted Turner virus: Colorizes your monochrome monitor. Terry Randle virus: Prints "Oh no you don't" whenever you choose "Abort" from the "Abort, Retry, Fail" message. Texas virus: Makes sure that it's bigger than any other file. UK Parliament virus: Splits the screen into two with a message in each half blaming other side for the state of the system. Warren Commission virus: Won't allow you to open your files for 75 years. Are there any more computer virus??? COLANTH: I think you'll find the majority of jokes on yahoo are from people whom heard it from a friend, read it somewhere etc... I am not the main source of all jokes I have posted, just thought I would share with those whom have not heard it, or whom would appreciate it. I do not claim credit for any jokes I have posted. 93. Resolved Question: Who here agrees with me on our continent's name being crappy?
  94. 14 Feb 2008 at 2:36pm
I mean you look at South America, it makes sense because it is south of America. But Central and North America are stupid. First of all, the centre of America IS America and North America has America in it. How can America be North of itself? If it was my way, America would be like Austrilla, a country and a continent. Just call it The United States of America when you are talking about the country and say America when you're talking about the continent. As for Canada and Mexico, I would have Mexico join with South America and have Greenland join Canada and form the new America. So who here agrees with me?

  99. Resolved Question: When will Africa produce a mighty modern nation?
  100. 14 Feb 2008 at 10:33am
Not counting Arabic Africa in the North, when do you think Africa will be able to produce a mighty and advanced nation that could challenge the other powers in the world? What realistical ideas do you have to make such a thing possible? Every continent has a very strong world power in it, except Africa. Asia has Japan, India and China. North America has USA. Europe has France, England, Russia, basically the whole European Union. South America has Brazil, and in the past Argentina was even strong enough to challenge England. So where is Africas? We have seen what happens when great states unite: examples European Union, Soviet Union, United States, do you think that Africa also needs to unite many nations in order to make one strong one?< >
