Semantics not geography. In ALL english usage Oceania referes to the broad GEOGRAPHIC AREA comprising the South Pacific islands of which the CONTINENT of Australia is one.
Oceania had half a spot, South America had 4.5 spots. Thus the winner of Oceania played fifth place South America. The Spots are allocate with respect to the level of play in each region. The level of play in the Oceania region is not very high. Australia always topped the group except one year, I believe, and they win games by scores of 20 - 0.
Oceania would continue in the same manner. New Zealand should replace Australia as top of group and probably hardly qualify for a WC.
I doubt that very much, Timor Leste will soon be granted as Member of ASEAN due to its geographical location in South East Asia. While Oceanic country cannot be recognized as a candidate member of that trading bloc.
The term 'oceania' is used to group the island nations of the South Pacific with Australia and New Zealand into a convenient socio-economic (and also international sporting) unit for convenience. The south pacific island nations are scattered over a wide area, and are not large enough to be considered socio-economic units in their own right (but each nation is independent, politically and econiomically).
Both Australia and New Zealand have large enough populations and levels of economic activity to be considered separately, but all the island nations put together are still not large enough; therefore they are lumped together with Australai and New Zealand as 'Oceania'.
It is also a convenient way of distiguishing the island nations from Asia (eg, the Phillipines and Japan are part of Asia; not oceania). Another term 'Australasia' is used to group Australia and New Zealand with eastern Asia, as an economic unit (there is a lot of trade between the Australasian countries).
Australians and New Zealanders do not think of themselves as being 'oceanic'. There is no geographic basis to consider Oceania as being included as part of the Australian continent. In fact, the island nations themselves are oceanic, in that they are situated on an oceanic crustal plate, rather than the Asian or Australian continental plate. In this geographical context, 'Oceania' should be considered separate from Australia.
Different? Isolation over long periods of time, different solutions for the same problems.
Common? Well men basically have the the same half dozen needs no matter where they are. A need for cooperative agriculture (usually water works) is going to result in a more advanced government structure. Lack of vital resources results in some sort of trade network. Competition for resources tends to result in violence.
well i think that i am going on the same cruise as you, i will be dressing up formally as usual as i think it will be formal evenings on those nights, but it should be really great the nights on the ship
Cunard sails from US to Australia as part of its world cruise. Holland American and Princess also have cruises that will sail to Australia.
Jews have always lived in Israel.
The Jewish populations in South America and Oceania are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution in other countries.
Hi how you doing.....
Now, what prevents people from moving place to place? When answering a question like this u have to take many various factors into consideration...such as job, school, children, family etc. Let me start with the latter part of your question first. All major settlements that exist in the present day (cities, town etc.) were all established years ago what we see today are simply developments that have been made as time passes.
Lets look at major settlements worldwide, such as London, New York, Buenos Aires, Sydney......we'll find that they all have one common geographic feature, they are all on flat plain landforms. Now if you study geography you'll know that rivers tend to flow through plain lands from hills and mountain peaks. All these major settlements have at least one major river flowing through them....it might not be clearly visible today but it exists whether it now runs underground or being damned a river system exists in most if not all majoy settlements. Water is the source of human strength and life. Without water we would all die. Initially when the first settlers came around they settled near a large source of fresh water, a river. This would make water easily accessible to the settlers. They would not have to travel far distances to get a supply of water.
As years went by the settlers procreated and their population increased dramactically. This would account for the population density. In the area around a source of fresh water then population would be heavily dense than a settlement in the hills. A perfect example is the river Nile in egypt. Back in 3200 BC the areas surrounding the river nile was the heart of the egyptian colony and even today the capital of Egypt, Cairo has established its location on the banks of the river nile.
This would explain also why people refuse to constantly move from place to place. People have established themselves in jobs, schools organizations that are based in the city. To move somewhere else would just change their lifestyle. The concept of water being the source of life and major cities being based on plains would explain how the geography of the land can affect a nations density.
I hope this information helped.

All depends on what criteria the cartographer used. It seems odd that it would be culturally homogeneous, so thats the only thing I can think of.
Oceania and Pacific Rim are technically two different regions. Oceania represents the southwest Pacific Ocean...some countries there would be...
Australia
Papua New Guinea
New Zealand
Tonga
Nauru
Pacific Rim involves all nations that border the Pacific...nations that would include in that list...
United States
Canada
Japan
Chile
Phillippines

The prostitute was a symbol for the state of sexuality in Oceania. Winston tells us that she was wearing a lot of makeup, and when he got her into the light he realized that she was very old. In Oceania, sex itself is wrapped up in high-sounding rhetoric. Winston's wife even called it our duty to the Party and would lay there rigid while it happened. Beneath the made-up exterior, however, the act itself is as ugly and tired as the old prostitute because the Party has done all it can to abolish love and pleasure through sex.
It's interesting, too, that Winston went ahead and did it anyway before leaving. It seems to suggest that despite creating this situation, on some fundamental level the Party can't control basic human urges.
Now if this is for an assignment, read that passage until you can understand how the meaning is actually there. If not, be honest and don't use it. =)
Because we get access to better competition, more regular competition, there are 4.5 World Cup sots as opposed to 0.5. There will be meaningful and competitive international games in Australia for fans to watch, and 2 teams from the new Australian A-League will compete in the Asian Champions League from 2007.
It is going to be great!
Choice three is interesting. It will certainly add something new to the current system. Most people play to win and want their countries to win. So I don't know it will last. Once there is a pattern of who is 1,2,3 and etc., this will get boring as well.
Give it a try. It will be new and fresh for awhile any way.
This is like a college moving to another conference. It can generates some excitement.
Good luck.
Oceania when we talk about the whole Continent. (New Zealand, New Guinea, various islands of the Malay Archipelago, and of course, Australia).
Australia when we are talking only about the country.
