  7. Resolved Question: PLEASE EXPLAIN A SLIGHT CONFUSSION?--10 POINTS--math?
  8. 16 Feb 2008 at 6:08pm
ORGINIAL QUESTION AS FOLLOWS: Please explain--10 points-- Says: GRAPHING QUADRATICS Solve quadratic equations in one variable algebracically, graphically, or by using graphing technology. Graoh the quadratics below by finding the x and y intercepts. Indicate the axis pf symmetry. 1. y= (x+3) (x-5) ANSWER I GOT: For this question, you need to remember that Quadratic Equations are in the shape of a U. Therefore, we also need to know where will the graph hit the x-axis. We do this by setting each of the given factors equal to zero to get: x - 5 = 0 x = 5 and . . . x + 3 = 0 x = - 3 Therefore, plot these two points (****WHAT ARE THE TWO POINTS HE'S REFERING TO, -3,0 AND 5, 0 OR...?? **** ) on the coordinate system. Now, what we just found were the x-intercepts. We now need to find the y-intercepts by setting x = 0 which gives us: y = ( 0 + 3 ) ( 0 - 5 ) = 3 x -5 = - 1

  17. Voting Question: Good book about managing your money in USA !?
  18. 16 Feb 2008 at 4:05pm
Hey guys, I have recently relocated to USA and I am looking for a good book to help me figure out how to best manage my money. What I mean by that is, I've heard from friends about how you can easily get yourself into bad credit if you don't know what you are doing. I've also heard that there are various ways to earn more points for your credit, so it can grow faster. All this is alien technology for me so I'd like a guide for dummies like book. Regards, Cezar

  23. Resolved Question: How do we transition to a new energy source?
  24. 16 Feb 2008 at 3:52pm
There are plenty of energy sources out there. New technology makes it possible to readily filter hydrogen from water at an efficient rate... but you have to set up recycling centers to pick up the filters (gallium filter separate the hydrogen but leave aluminum and some other element behind ... but no material is lost and they can be recombined to form the same amount of gallium again.. you just have to build the industry to do it) There is 3,000 times more geothermal energy produced under our feet every day than is used in the US. A new material that absorbs 99.9% of light makes solar cells more effective. Nanotechnology applied to silicon to make them into cylinders makes batteries 10 times more efficient. The list goes on and on.... but HOW do we transition into these systems? The consumer can't afford to pay for it, the government doesn't have to pay for it, and companies surely won't pay for it when they are making money off the current system. So what do you suggest? These are all true statements.. I'm a bit of a science nerd. I'll see if I can still find a couple of links for those that want to read up geothermal http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/071129183725.htm 10 times the battery life http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/12/071219103105.htm Here's a neat one.. using solar energy to turn CO2 into fuel. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/04/070418091932.htm I was a little off on my Hydrogen claim... but not much.. it's gallium and aluminum combined.. there is no gallium splitting into aluminum and something else.. but anyway.. here is the article. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/08/070827174310.htm

  29. Resolved Question: Temperature Measurement?
  30. 16 Feb 2008 at 3:35pm
I am working for a pipeline operation company. We need to obtain the temperature inside the piplines at specific points along the line at which we are expecting high temperatures. We need a non-destructive method to find out the temperature without stopping the operation of the line. Pipelines vary in size from 20" up to 56" diameter, and, contain both gaseous and liquid products. Any suggestions for instruments or technologies that provide quick low-cost solutuion? Any definite relation between the temperature of the wall and the temperature of the content of the line provided all the parameters of the line??

  65. Resolved Question: What optional course should I take for grade 10?
  66. 16 Feb 2008 at 11:43am
My parents don't want me taking "dance" because it isn't as important as taking "environmental concerns", "business", or something like "computer sciences". This is because I would like to become a doctor after highschool and taking dance isn't very important in that field. Another course is offered, called "Health Care and Services Technology" which is about medical technology used. I know I would greatly enjoy dance but my parents want me to take more of an academic subject. I have 2 optional courses, one of which will be French but what should my other one be? Is grade 10 really that imporant that I should strictly take career-related courses? Thanks for your help and opinion!

This was about a month ago, but in soutern california, usa the did something with the genes that made it so you could live _upto_ 800 years old. I mean whether you are for it or against it, what would you do? I mean i am for it because i would love to flying cars, new-technology and stuff. :-) Well for those against it, which i do not know why you wouldn't go for it, why wouldn't you? Try googling "live to 800 years". But for scientist people, could you please explain what the side-effects are? and what would i look like? would i be wrinkly? 79. Resolved Question: diagnosis.............?
  80. 16 Feb 2008 at 10:04am
One day, Pete complained to his friend, "My elbow really hurts. I guess I should see a doctor." His friend said, "Don't do that. There's a computer at the drug store that can diagnose anything quicker and cheaper than a doctor. Simply put in a sample of your urine, and the computer will diagnose your problem and tell you what you can do about and it will only costs you $10.00." Pete figured he had nothing to lose, so he filled a jar with a urine sample and went to the drug store. Finding the computer, he poured in the sample and deposited the $10.00. The computer started making some noise and various lights started flashing. After a brief pause, out popped a small slip of paper which read: 1. You have tennis elbow. 2. Soak your arm in warm water, avoid heavy labor. 3. It will be better in two weeks....... That evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was and how it would change medical science forever, he began to wonder if this computer could be fooled. He decided to give it a try. He mixed together some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, and urine samples from his wife and daughter. To top it off, he masturbated into the concoction. He went back to the drug store, located the computer, poured in the sample and deposited the $10.00. The machine again made the usual noises, flashed its alights, and printed out the following analysis: 1. Your tap water is too hard. 2. Get a water softener. 3. Your dog has ringworm. 4. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo. 5. Your daughter is using cocaine. 6. Put her in a rehabilitation clinic. 7. Your wife is pregnant ....... twin girls. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer. 8. And if you don't stop masturbating, your elbow will never get better

last week i interviewed for a promotion in my department to a job with much more responsibility, stress, and pressure- i enjoy a challenge and want to move up, so was very excited when i found out i got it. i was expecting to make about $20-22/hr with this new job.... i make $16 now. i just found out they are offering to pay me $16.50 for this new job!! keep in mind, i've made $16 since april 2007, so im about due for that rate in my current anyways. i don't want to refuse the job offer that i've dreamed of, but i will not sell myself short like that. help! how do i negotiate more money? they're paying me less because i don't have an engineering degree and only 1.5 years experience in the field.. but i DO have a degree in radiology technology from the army and i've been in this department for 1.5 years so i know much much more than any of the other people who applied for this job, not to mention im very smart and flexible and learn quickly and etc, you know the routine. what can i do?? i should add this- i plan to negotiate to try to get AT LEAST $18... the "preferred" qualifications for the job are- bachelor's degree and 3-5 years experience. i was interviewed by a panel of my coworkers, the decision for me was unanimous, and they love me and are very confident in my abilities. i understand they're trying to lowball me, so maybe i should rephrase my question.. what can i do/say to negotiate better pay? also, im a certified x-ray tech, so i could start out in that field making $18/hr easily- i just don't like that kind of work and love the work im in now. should i bring this up when trying to negotiate? the guy who had the position before me said i should make about 40k/year. thanks! :)
