Transforming an Invisible Website to a Traffic Magnet -
Part 1
by Detlev Reimer
Many marketers ignore the fact that visitors often cannot find
their website if they aren't promoting it consistently EVERY
SINGLE DAY. Yes, I know it sounds hard but that's the only
way to go .
Each day you don't promote your website, will be
a lost day for your business with potential sales lost !
You Need a Daily Website Promotion Strategy !
Without daily promotion you will not get the kind of traffic you
need to make sales, unless you have a top 10 position in the
major search engines for your chosen keywords or a high po-
sition in Yahoo. But even then, you can always improve the
amount of traffic you get.
This means, you have to find other ways to drive traffic to your
website and moreover, the traffic has to be highly targeted or
you won't have won a thing if only uninterested visitors come
to your website . You want visitors who are eager to buy from
you ....
An Example Schedule For Your Website
Spend at least 1 or better 2 hours a day on promoting your
website. Without it, your website will NEVER transform to a
traffic magnet . Below comes a schedule which could serve as
an example (you should alter it according to your personal
preferences) :
-----------------------------------
Day 1 (Monday) : Newsgroups
-----------------------------------
You have to "hang out" and advertise where your potential
buyers are online . If you are selling CDs, post messages to
newsgoups which offer MP3 music or which feature some
famous popstars . Post messages with interesting headlines
but don't spam. Don't post unrelated and blatant ads or you
will just harm your business.
you can post to . Just do a seach for the keywords your pro-
ducts are related to .
--------------------------
Day 2 (Tuesday) : Chats
--------------------------
Visit chatrooms and start discussions with others who are
also interested in the subjects you personally love . Do some
research before you start chatting as there is a "netiquette"
which you should respect !
A list of some available chatrooms can be found here :

If you are not comfortable with webbased chats (which are
Java based in most cases) , you should consider installing a
Chat Client such as mIRC :
------------------------------------------------
Day 3 (Wednesday) : Ezine Advertising
------------------------------------------------
As I already stated more than once , free ezine ads are a great
way to test your ads in the first place. Prepare your free ads
(look for ad codes !) and make a list of the publishers' names
and email addresses.
If you already know which ads are successful, you should defini-
tely change to paid advertising as this is better noticed by ezine
readers. Go for Top Sponsor and Solo Ads . A very large (but
up to date) list of ezine publishers which accept these forms of
advertising can be found at Ruth Townsend's Directory of
Ezines (
This is a must if you want to advertise your products in ezines
because the free directories are either not up to date or they do
not include the relevant pieces of information !
